What does "%increased effect of ailments" mean?

One of the new supports, Unbound Ailments has this stat.

I guess it doesn't increase ailment duration, since there is a separate stat for that.

My best guesses:

- increases the base damage per second values from ignite/poison/bleed, acting as an entirely new multiplier on this type of damage
- increases the damage bonus from shock
- increases the slowing effect of chill
- no effect on freeze (unless freeze resistance becomes a thing instead of immunity)
- maim and blind are still not ailments (?)

Seems like this is most useful for Poison builds, Emberwake ignite builds, and supportive shock/chill setups (Vaal Lightning Trap), and not very useful for bleed, since the duration gain is mostly irrelevant.

I imagine this is going to be the case.
here the link of leveled gems: http://i.imgur.com/zT2dsFT.png

30% more damage for ignites sounds solid, and more so for stacking DoTs.
15% more damage from shock (50*0.3=15%) sounds not so much, at least on the first glance. Thou if increase duration is a thing between shock and no shock applied and also all unique items with mods "...on shock" and "... against shocked" it might be worth it.
You can think of the 1.65 versus 1.5 shock as a 1.1x damage modifier, if you shock everything. Most builds have a hard time shocking boss with a damaging hit so that support could make a big difference - maybe not as much as another more modifier though

yes, 10% my bad :D
its quite low. Thinking what damage multiplier support gem beats this one on shock purpose. If a build focuses on ailments the build will have at least around 50% increased shock duration (for example from 3 jewels 17% increased duration each), therefore increased duration from this gem will add around 39% more duration (209/150=39.3). If this gem competes with other gems giving 30% more damage (which is also 30% more duration) it's barely worth it, getting more increased duration from elsewhere it becomes not worth it, unless there is nothing to socket better. If this gem would give 59% more duration instead of increased it would be another talk. Thou i could see this gem being used on stuff like arctic armour, vaal lightning trap and other chill builds (and all damage dealing ailments ofcourse).

Well, poison is the big winner from that gem, assuming it increases the base damage of poison/bleed/ignite by up to 30%. It'd get 30% more damage per second, and (assuming no other increased duration for poison) 49% more duration, so ultimately 93.7% more poison damage over the full duration.

Otherwise, i could see it being useful if you carry a dedicated bleed or ignite setup to use as background dps against bosses; get 30% more damage out of it and make it last longer so you don't need to replace it as often. Doesn't really seem too useful for shock (not sure if it would work on ground effects, as those aren't considered as "you" applying the ailment, but if it does then vaal lightning trap could use it), but i guess it could be useful in a freeze mine or cold snap setup though.
