Book of "Regerts" Vendor Recipe for BETA? Cheap Respecing
|
I'd like to see a "Book of Regerts" vendor recipe during the BETA, or add it to core maybe.
My thought: new item: "Book of Regerts" refund all passive points Recipe (BETA): 1x Scroll of Wisdom + 1x Orb of Regret *allows for experimenting Recipe (core): 1x Scroll of Wisdom + 20x Orbs of Regret The high cost (money/time) of trying out undocumented ideas on more than just a skill planner stifles creativity, and harshly penalizes new players and probably pushes a lot of players away from PoE. How this helps new players:
Spoiler
Following a guide is practically mandatory to avoid wasting a ton of time on a build that can't stack up to the competition. Its a kick in the teeth to realize starting a new character will be faster/cheaper than trying to fix your level 50 tree that was working for regular play but doesn't have a chance in Merciless*(gone I know) or Map with. BETA specific reasoning:
Spoiler
With all the changes coming in 3.0.0 experimenting with the passive tree is going to be huge. Adding a cheaper/easier way to compare nodes and builds during the BETA will go a long way towards fleshing out all the changes to core mechanics. I wasn't part of the earlier BETA's, not sure if something similar is already part of their process. Also think this would benefit the core game a ton. Some arguments I've seen against easier respeccing: But the current system rewards and good planning!
Spoiler
If you believe this and use guides published by others, you are a hypocrite. Go troll somewhere else. You are just reaping the rewards of someone else's planning and experience. If are still reading, I ask you this. Should one be punished for a well laid out plan that doesn't work as expected because of confusing or unclear skill/stat interactions? Why can't I have fun learning about new unique items and skill/talent synergies through the game rather than intense online research and published guides. I like leveling the same class over and over to learn the build better!
Spoiler
OK. You do you. I ask will enabling others to respec easily without re-leveling make it so you no long enjoy your play style? I'd like to hear from others who support or condemn more freedom in playing around with the gigantic skill tree and all the fun options it can offer. Without needing to first make a farming toon to fund 50-Chaos respecs or spending another 20 hours to re-level just trying to optimize the same or similar build. Book of rugrats would be too OP if it only costs 20 rugrats.
you would safe yourself to push up another toon just with 10c. |

" My impression was that he intended for this to be a beta-only item, in which case, why not make it cost 1 regret? Need game info? Check out the Wiki at: https://www.poewiki.net/

from a beta perspective I think it's not a good idea, as mentioned above, need to test how things really go and well you will get a few wipes to help you out with respecing anyways.
For core I like the idea, but think 30 regrets is a better price point. slows people down a tad but still makes it very useful, and more importantly can allow for a faster respect, problem i have now is all the backwards respecing i have to do, it's not that i don't have the regrets to do it, it's just annoying to click on 30-40 nodes to unspec, then click on half of them again to spec. |

" Neah, a fair cost would be at least 80 Regrets, but that book should also net you at least a Divine or maybe an EX when vendored. Or the price of 20/30 with an according drop rate reduction of Regrets. Respecs should be kept meaningful, so your build choices should still matter. Rerolls are the way to go if you want to explore stuff, and that should be preserved. PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"...
Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days... |

" bah on rerolls, regrets are super cheap in comparison, meaning it takes me and i'm pretty decent at blitzing through content, about 40 minutes per act, so to get back to mapping that is, 12 acts at 40 minutes, so 480 minutes which is roughly around 8 hours. I think on of the fastest speed runners around can pull i8t off in about 6-7. Well 8 hours of game play can easily net you if you are doing any type of mapping, about 40-50 chaos. assuming you don't get any lucky drops worth more, that is mostly jsut from chaos recipes / regrets and fuses etc. Easily. at a 1 for 1 ratio which is usually where chaos falls you can fully respec a character in less time than rerunning, not to mention redoing labs, etc. Hech this past league I respeced the same bezerker 8 times, to test a ton of crazy build ideas, like a vaal pack kinetic blast zerker, liked it but was like himm wonder if i could do this, so did that test, and another and another, point being in less time to even reroll through merci Act 4 i had respeced my guy into 4-5 totally randomly different builds. My biggest problem with it, how clunky it was do to it. click 40-50 times on regrets, open passive, click 40-50 times to remove, hit apply, then go through and respec, hit apply, be nice to right click once, then start respecing. Now if you just getting going in a brand new league and do a complete failure build day 1, then yeah a reroll would be called for. |

" That was intented^^ regerts (op) sounded like the clip with "pregrant" /watch?v=EShUeudtaFg |
|
" what are regerts ?? Also if you messed up your build in beta, you either need to use "path of building" to plan your character better. or just copy paste build that works. Giving option for cheap respec is not the way to go YES I support the game, NO I don't agree with many GGG decisions
Lab still sucks balls. I miss Zana already. |

Simulating "real" play through is what is BETA about.
If you want test into failure, you better get Alpha access and help GiGiGi debug the game continuously. I represent only myself, my own thought and believes. I am individual, not a representative of the community.
I am not speaking on behalf of someone else and I don't get offended by things that have nothing to do with me. 3.13 was the golden age. |
