Legacy Voidheart new OP item in 3.0

Voidheart will be favoured by players who just like DoT builds in general and not because they are the meta.

I have one legacy voidheart on my only melee character. What can I do to make some use of it? I do physical dmg.
Why bother finding a Mirror of Kalandra if it can be [Removed by Support]
Killing the Elder or Shaper while following someone's build is like finding a street using google maps - such an achievement! |

No dude you clearly missed the entire point of the DOT changes. You will have to invest points and affixes in the DOT damage to scale the dots. Voidheart is not immune from these changes.
Voidheart will be an easy way to apply both poison and bleed but it is already. The damage applied now is more than it will be after the changes because the initial dot damage will only be calculated off the base damage of the melee hit. Im still convinced it will be a powerful ring.
Legacy Voidheart gives 100% chance to bleed and poison.. The first manifesto talked about increases to bleed an poison damage, the second mentioned new passives that scale both inital hit and DOT damage, as well as changes to some nodes that will apply chance to crit (or was it crit multi?) modifiers so it also applies to DOT. Qlso end game bosses are not going to be immune to status ailments, which poison and bleed now are. I suppose time will tell. Cheers, Matt. PS. Your right about this being a stsndard problem :) There are 10 types of people. Those that know binary, and those that dont.

" The manifestos were basically propaganda trying to claim double-dipping is gone (which it sorta is, sorta isn't) and convince you that bleed and poison will have better potential because of the doubled percentages and extra affixes/passives, while glossing over the fact that they'll no longer indirectly scale on the damage modifiers that physical attackers actually get (i.e. various weapon damage nodes) which means they'll be complete and utter shit without poison and bleed damage passives/affixes. And you'll be sorely disappointed if you think GGG's gonna give you enough poison/bleed damage affixes to make their damage remotely worth using (because it'll take roughly 1200% or so 'increased' totals to make poison better than, say, added fire support for a physical attacker, and I very much doubt GGG's gonna sprinkle that into players' trees, especially without forcing them to spend even more passives trying to reach them). So yeah voidheart, legacy or not, will almost certainly be worse off for every last build that would ever consider it, because once the numbers come out we'll likely see this system makes poison/bleed/ignite worse for everyone, without exception, and most heavily so for self-used physical attack (and spell) builds. voidheart is getting "nerfed" with 3.0 since DoT post 3.0 will be weaker than pre 3.0. It will still probably see use but maybe restricted to specific builds.

lol unless they have like 1000% DOT wheel no poison or bleed will be better in 3.0.

" Getting 'd' and 't' mixed up isn't that bad, some people can't figure out 'x' and 'y'. |

As a permanent standard player I would actually argue that poison will be stronger not due to the mechanism changes but due to the boss changes.
Current voidheart builds are pure more chaos or more physical damage. The more chaos version is stronger against the poison immune T16 bosses but weaker against anything below T16. The physical version is pretty much stuck against the T16 bosses as the pure physical damage without any poison conversion is just too weak but much better at map clearance. They also have the option to switch to weapon elemental damage via old school elemental style. The issue for me currently is that I cannot build an universal counter all build thanks to the T16 poison immune bosses. Once they remove that and assuming that poison is still viable, I will actually rule standard. |
