Culling Strike for bosses
When i used Karui axe, it had culling strike, which means you kill a monster once it reaches 10% or less life.
This used to be really good when you fight against bosses (i used the karui axe until end of merciless). After that i got my Atziri's disfavour, which is in my opinion the best 2h axe. since i have no idea how can culling strike be added to the disfavour, i started to read on the culling strike support. I don't plan to add it to the atziri's disfavour. I'm using Sunder -> multi strike -> added fire -> conc. -> WED -> melee phys. any of them gives at least 60% additional damage, and i think replacing any with culling strike gem would downgrade me. how about connecting the culling strike to herald of ash + hatred? will it work? I read posts about the overkill damage and the ignition. i don't care about that. trash monsters aren't my problem. it's always the bosses. if i can: HoA + Hatred + culling strike support, I get additional 39% damage and i need only to lower the boss's life by 90% to finish him. do you think it will work? or the culling needs to be linked to main attack skill and not to the auras? thank you. no it wont. culling strike requires a hit and HoA does not hit

Hatred is an Aura, meaning it only applies a Buff to allies in the area. If it Culled anything, it would be you (but instead Hatred cannot Cull at all).
Herald of Ash similarly is a Buff applied to the character. The Buff cannot Cull. The Buff also adds an on-Kill effect, which applies Ignite to nearby enemies. culling strike need a hit to tigger, HoA does ignite damage which doesn't create hit, and hatred is an aura
frankly, why do you need culling strike? killing enemy at 10% health is roughly a 111% damage multiplier, but the damage increased you get from switching to disfavour axe is so much more, there's no need for that at all. Partying with a culler or someone use kingmaker axe is much easier. If you really really want to use it, link it to your golem or ancestral protector, not on warchief tho |

I started to think about it after failing to kill the Minotaur.
i'm level 89, 5650 life, 14k armour, 130k dps without flasks, 230k dps with flasks. sounds like nice stats right? but when i fought the minotaur, it was too hard. i lasted for quite a while, the longest fight i had, but i died 6 times. i hit him with my sunder with enough times to kill several atziris, several izaros or Arguses. and i thought to myself - this is doable by 2 methods: 1. more dps, which in my level and my gear isn't realistic. i can ofcouse get better gear, but it won't double my dps. in the best case, maybe from 130k dps to 150k dps 2. other ways. i thought about culling strike - thats easy 10% off. 10% from a monster with millions of life might be equal to tons of more DPS (assuming i can deal 90% damage, which is another question). If I may suggest something, get Resolute Technique and Unbreakable instead of Undeniable. Your dps will stay around the same, but you get tons of extra armour (you are using Brass Dome!!), and stun immunity. also optimize your tree, there seem to be some wasted passives in pathing. Then get Soul of steel passive, and perhaps some more life leech or life.

where are the wasted passives? i tried resolute technique, but it disables crit. i have 4 passives next to it with crit, plus 120% crit on my boots. undeniable branch gives around %12 attack speed. dont u think its better than armour? as i've been told here, armour deals only phys damage, most of the bosses use a kind of elemental damage. would love to hear more tips - thank you!!!! |

your accuracy can give something like 90% chance to hit at best, which is 10% less dps. but the bosses I assume have higher evasion, so it might be worse in situation where it matters. your crit is low, and once you crit, it sits somewhere around 12% with low multiplier. Also worth mentioning that chance to hit rolls for the second time to confirm crits. Im pretty certain that RT would compensate the damage from crits, and you would save 4 points + get 4k base armour and stun immunity.
