Not to be insensitive or rude, but pretty much any climber not killed climbing would technically be a better climber.

I am guessing you have never climbed? There are so many things out there that can kill a climber that are completely beyond their control, so the fact he died has absolutely no reflection on his skill. His climbing skills are off the charts and he has pushed himself further and harder than anyone else. But such is the life of mountaineers, there is only so many times you can push your limits to those extremes before something goes wrong and it gets you killed. It doesn't take much for things to go tits up quickly there. He knew the risks and did what he loved most. His life may have been short but at least he lived it to the fullest.

Had the fortune of meeting him in Edinburgh a few years ago, total legend, really nice and humble dude!

This is exactly what I say every time I die in HC.

Also, sucks he died - I'm sure he probably wouldn't choose any other way though.
