Increased Melee Damage interaction with poison

As I understand it, Increased Area Damage scales the damage of the initial hit, then scales the poison applied by the hit (double dipped).

Would Increased Melee Damage also do the same? The main reason I ask is that the Wiki does not mention anything about this jewel affix.

'Melee' always has an implied 'attack', and therefore cannot scale anything that isn't an attack. So no, it will not scale poison. Really the main point of 'increased melee damage' is that it scales all damage types, unlike most passives that are restricted to melee physical.

Also, don't count on being able to use area damage and the like to double-dip for very long either, it's expected to be dealt with in 3.0.

Thanks. And yea, I know double dipping is getting changed.

I hope they have something in works to make damage scaling not actually linear though. I enjoy playing around with a little complexity
