flask Macros legality, a constructive thread to clarify the answer

Simple macros that do nothing but allow a player to shorten an existing in-game command - i.e. hitting Macro Button 5 for Enter > /remaining, or a Whisper Last functionality for quickly replying to trades, or other such time-savers are permitted because they do nothing the player is incapable of doing themselves. They just save a few keystrokes.

So basicly you're saying yourself that having a macro using 5 flask's to save a few keystrokes is okay.. right? since.. the player can actually do that himself? i mean pressing 12345 is not hard and takes little time.. however having a one keypress for doing so would be convenient.

I don't see how it would be considered cheat.

HOWEVER just like poe.trade should be moved into the game. so should an option to setup flask use (maybe in a specific order) also be implementet as flasks are such a big part of the game.

Having to put out a totem, orbs of storms with curse, frostbomb and pressing 5 flasks is just annoying. This game is already grindy enough. Atleast please make the game more relaxing to grind through.

Just my oppinion. I can clearly see the issue with allowing macro's for this. But people are already doing it with the "built in macro's" that new hardware comes with, and GGG cannot track the use of this. So the simply solution still stands. Add an ingame option for it.

Kind regards

The requirement to use more than five fingers on the left arm is the reason I dislike playing PoE even if it is technically a better game than Diablo 3.

But Diablo 3 is at least playable.

User experience in PoE sucks.

Have you - or anyone else looking for flask macros - ever considered that the game wasn't intended for you to simply slap all five flasks, both movement skills, three secondary skills, and your primary active skill all within the same frame? If you need to do this routinely in order to play PoE, perhaps your build needs to lean less hard on flasks? Most folks have no trouble simply pianoing their flasks in rapid sequence, you know.

I mean, I know my solution to the Left Hand Overdependence Issue for PC games...but Path of Exile is not the first PC game to put five hundred commands on the keyboard and expect you to get to every single one of them with one single left hand whilst putting exactly two inputs under the right hand. Why is this suddenly an issue with PoE?

Regardless. As I said back in April when this thread wasn't something you could cast Volatile Dead off of:

Nevertheless. As Abdiel and Viper said, GGG's stance on this one is clear and unambiguous - one button press, one server-side action. A flask activation is a server-side activation. One button press for five flask activations is clearly, inarguably against the macro rulings laid down by GGG. Therefor, flask macros are against ToS and punishable.

For once in the history of gaming, macros are being called out as the low-level cheating they are for the majority of the playerbase. I'm certain that players with actual physical disabilities can get ahold of GGG's support services, go "I'm missing most of the fingers off my gaming hand. Can we talk about ways to help me sort this out?", they'll work with that guy. GGG's support team seems cool like that.

But outside of physical disabilities? Play the game the same as everyone else does. You want all the flasks up, press five buttons. And be glad you're not on the Xbone where you only get four flasks instead.

If its just press 1 button then gimme loot I kinda like it.
