Uber lab failures - L2P issue or character too weak?

Hi there,

I've blown 5 of my 6 Offerings so far and would like some advice regarding my character. 4 of those 5 deaths came to oneshots in p1 or p2 of the Izaro fights, I haven't seen the final stage yet.

Yesterday I managed his first two phases once (to fail gloriously at traps.......) though they both took forever running circles like a chicken and only shooting a few arrows after his jump.

So I wonder if there are glaring issues with my equipment or if I just need to learn the encounter. Do any of my items stand out as exceptionally weak? I've only bought the chest and the two uniques.

Is there a point to changing the 6L to either Tornado Shot or Barrage for the Izaro encounter? I've also tried Decoy Totems though they didn't seem to do much.

All help is highly appreciated! (though I might not be able to respond too soon)

1) Well your char is EV based and you´re missing any kind of physical resist mitigation (except enduring cry maybe).
You should kill him fast before taking any hits and take atleast basalt flask to mitigate physical damage (traps), maybe arctic armour too but it works only while stationary.

2. You got VP but no life leech (VP= no regen but without life leech it´s suicide)
You should invest in Vitality void passive (0.4% mana leech should be enough so can probably remove Essence sap) and remove VP for now (lab)

3.I would take Whirling blades + faster attack + fortify in fast weapon + this shield (http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/The_Oak) for extra regen on switch to speed up traps.

4. Maybe take Stone golem for extra regen and small tank (wont help much anyway)
Probably best method for you is to kill him fast and avoid shit. I would take Atziri flask for extra damage (and a bit leech) then.

Do you change the 6 link on your lightning arrow for the izaro encounter?
You're using chain+gmp, both of which significantly reduce your single target damage.

I would suggest switching to pierce+slower projectiles for this fight. If that's still not enough, changing LA to barrage might give you enough damage.
Going towards Vitality Void for more leech would certainly be useful.

Generally Izaro can be pretty nasty for evasion characters, definitely get some physical mitigation via basalt flask, and make sure you do the mechanics in the first two phases so Izaro isn't buffed in the third fight.

The 3rd stage can be a lot harder than the earlier ones...

Previous posters do offer some good advice. With bow I would use TS + GMP. Elemental damage is weak vs boss without penetration. Izaro can have some buff/s giving him even more resists.

If you still cant handle him and dont want to learn the fight enough to do it with bow you could switch to a tanky ST setup so that you can facetank him on an easy day.

If you dont want to loose offerings you can exercise vs Merciless Izaro.

You can beat (on easy day) Izaro per outgear/outbuild or per playing skills. Its your choice.

Decoy totem should be leveled and linked with MTR. And optionally linked with Empower. If it doesnt survive it wont help much. The fire barrage will ignore the Taunting though.

No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!
If you're not killing him for challenge purposes I'd rather hire Lab carry. Faster and cheaper solution of your problem.
I would overlevel and overgear level the content or as above, hire a labber.

Having the final points at the start of the mapping stage is a great feeling. It's not really feasible for many builds to complete uber labs after 2-3 levels of t1-t2 maps.

If you're not overlevelled, you should buy lab service.
I'm lvl 88 so I just fight him with abyssus. Makes little difference if I don't put it on though. His idols give him added elemental damage so I'd rather double my dips have him dead quickly before he my luck runs out.
edit: Worked out, finally :)

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I hope to beat that lab today (and by myself), so far I'm adjusting my tree and trying to get some of those items.

Sarang, could you please elaborate why Death's Opus is so good? I've seen that you rank it above a 350 pdps bow in your guide.
