How is it possible to make up the resistance for the Lightning Coil and Abyssus?

How does a Belly stack up against Coil? I find that Belly gives a few hundred life over other chest pieces, barring Kaom. The armor, evasion and res that comes with Belly are not great but still usable.

better than it used to be
because lightning coil only protects against phys. damage, but belly pool is against any damage.

for evasion, there are basically three main choices, and KoTF which kinda stands alone (so, qotf)

the three choices are : coil, belly, kintsugi

belly is the most general by providing more life pool. coil is against large phys hits, and kintsugi probably the most polarizing unique by having a conditional all damage reduction

also, Im surprised no one mentioned jewels as crutches to help you cap res

jewels are great sources of 2/all res (of smaller amounts, but still)

a lot of times you can get better stat on a suffix of your glove or helm than you would on a jewel (and such jewel would be more expensive) instead of res on glove/helm + all damage jewel.

personally I think belly, queen of the forest, rare evasion chests, all those sort of armours are shit. The only time Id use one over a coil is if Im playing a joke tier speed farmer or an mfer, usually in a softcore league just to fast my way through content on a virtually 0 budget with double figure /deaths. Id never use them on a proper character who was supposed to play harsh endgame non stop and never die.

Ive seen a few decent builds using belly, Jah from the forums had an ar+ev hybrid with like 20k+ armour, 12k+ evasion, 50%+ block and was using a belly. I think his build would still have been more powerful is he just swapped it for a coil but could he manage the resists? Probably, I dunno, but he was doing ok without it. In the same situation I would have used the coil because its simply better, I would find a way to get the resist on the rest of my gear. Thats mt personal opinion on it.

Rare armour chests or hybrid ar+ev are fine tho, providing they have savage amounts of armour.
