How to pronounce Vaal - setting the record straight.
Vay Whale?
I thought it was pronounced like veil. Oh well, Vaal can be a robot whale if he wants. He works so hard killing me, so whale it is. It's like he is an evil version of the Windfish. Is PoE just a dream then? Or is it like purgatory, and your character starts off dead and doesn't know it? I'm so confused. Wait, if this is purgatory, do the characters realize they are respawning? If so, why don't they question it? Did they all just silently accept the fact that they are already dead? Does this mean that hardcore is a higher level of purgatory, and getting killed there means being punished and sent down to the default level? Does deleting a character mean their spirit is being destroyed? Oh god, this game is way darker than I first thought. Damn it Robot Whale, why are so evil? Bullshit, you get the game for free.

" And then you'll still get the occasional idiot that tries to pronounce the 'h'. I know that very well since I am forever cursed with such a name :( 'Is your name 'ba-have'? Is your name 'behave'???'. No its not, you're just fucking stupid and making me hate having to wear a name tag at work. Vaal is almost certainly based on Baal or Ba'al
So it should be pronounced the same. Problem is that Baal is an ancient Sumeric word which was spelled with a series of triangles and hashes. And no one is around to tell us how to pronounce it. So just mumble it, and people won't notice. |
