Game freezes then starts using excessive amounts of RAM and CPU resources.

This started happening in 2.6 when I turned Engine Multithreading off (I was getting crashes every map or two, even with a fresh OS and a reinstall of the game after 2.6.0g).

I'm running the game in DX11 beta.

The game will freeze and RAM usage will spike up to 6-11GB.

CPU usage will also go up to 60-70% across all cores on my i7 4820k, usually it sits at 20-30% since my GPU is holding it back.

The rest of my PC continues to function fine, and sometimes the game will recover after 10 or so seconds and I can continue playing for a little before it freezes again, the RAM usage also stays at whatever it climbed to when it first froze, but CPU usage goes back down until it freezes again.

As you can see, it took 12 seconds from it freezing to unfreezing, in this case it allowed me to play again after it unfroze, however some times it stops responding and completely crashes.

With multithreading I don't recall getting this exact issue however PoE would straight up stop responding and crash every 5-10 minutes.

GPU: GTX 750 ti 2GB

GPU driver: 378.78
