Buying gems at vendors

I would -really- like to get a option to select what gem level I'm buying. If I click on it, a "pop-up" slide where it would range from 1 to whatever the relative limit would be freaking great. Used to be, all gems were only level one. Now they're always leveled, and relative to norm/cruel/merc ... I'm glad we can buy gems - it'd be an easier experience to get a gem that hits the limit of one's needs. Unfortunately, in my case, my dex is crap. Getting some gems at the vendor is useless. Using scours per level sucks, honestly.

Or just have them all at lv 1. If you are high level it does not take long to build up a gen to that lv.
Normal level gems level 1, cruel could be leveled some, I guess...gem quests aren't useful when the gem is one that's overleveled for stats that aren't primary, either
Simple solution... Let Siosa have 6 gem sell tabs, 3 that are as now with leveled gems, and 3 with L1 gems.
i'd prefer them to be level 1 tbh, it's easy enough to level them, but costly to reduce their level to suit you

doesnt work after next (big) update => no cruel anymore...

Having him selling both plain and prelevelled gems would fit the need, but also need to set a new additional price for each gem "class"... could be easily a double fee for the lower gems, but IMHO not really fair value for the higher ones.

I think GGG should have Siosa sell all gems at all levels and qualities (from 1/0 to 21/23). Now, I know what you're thinking: 'that would be 132,342 different gems (21 x 23 x 274), and would require Siosa to have 920 tabs.' Well, yes, but GGG could give him some of those lovely quad-tabs and he'd only need 230 of those.

What do you guys think?
Favourite armour? Hmmm, I forget it's name, but it's that scarlet one that whatsherface wears when she wants to look splendid.

What?

21\23 isn't even possible for one, for another, why would they allow you to buy something that is suppose to be a rare corruption like +1 gems, if it was from a vendor. That is by far the dumbest thing I've read on the forums in quite a while and I read many of the replies to the lab complaint threads.

People are forgetting why the gems are leveled from the vendors as well, they are leveled because GGG decided in the 2.0 beta (I think it was then) that they didn't want to punish people for selecting a gem they don't find fun. So if you wanted to change to another spell caster gem, you could. We all know gem levels matter a LOT of spell casters, so its not as simple as just leveling up another one when you are sick of using the spell you selected, that might be subpar for your playstyle.

GGG also added 2 recipes, gem+scour will remove 1 gem level and gem+regret will put it to level 1. This is the solution to the problem you are suggesting is there, it isn't there.

I understand some people want lower level or even level 1 gems for things like cwdt or to deal with the attribute requirements, but this makes looting a level 1 cwdt save you a regret orb (plus cost at vendor if you don't select it as a reward)

GGG purposely did this in order to give base gems value in the economeh. Inconvenient gem-muling still circumvents the idea.
