[2.6] WIP Glacial Hammer Inq

Currently using this as a starter for Legacy. LVL 67 ACT 3 Merciless ATM.
I have always like Glacial Hammer as a skill and with the new threshold gems it has gotten very interesting to me.

Pros

Great AOE Damage with Threshold jewels
Easy to build
Multiple build paths
Budget Friendly
New player friendly IMO

Cons

Elemental Reflect will destroy you
Not the fastest clear speed

This build is designed to be a tanky life/armor/resist build. With that and the desire to keep the cost of the build down for budget friendliness i have gone Resolute Technique (RT) over Crit. this build can be adapted to crit but you will need a Lycosidae to make it work.

lvl 96 tree

This is the proposed level 96 tree
for bandits

Leveling Trees

Assuming you have the 2 Winter Burial Jewels this is the early skill tree to shoot for.

After this point i went for Life and resists. As this is a melee build your weapon will carry your damage early game so build survival early so your not scrambling later.

At this point just fill out the tree as needed for either damage or life since you should be near every important wheel of nodes you need.

Gear

Required

The only required gear for his build is 2 Winter Burial Threshold jewels. Other than those a one handed mace and shield and armor can be anything.
For Maces look for high Physical damage with increased elemental damage like

Uniques to look for

Great damage and synergies well with GH. Plus if you are running the Shattered Chains jewel they work well together.

HUGE regen boost and with the extra resists from our tree the downside is easily mitigated.

Our Defense against Ele reflect. Probably needs to be required but not til late game.

Others to look out for
Shields

Lycosidae - For crit build
Aegis Aurora

Mace

Doryani's Catalyst - massive damage increase

Gem Setup
Gem Links

Glacial Hammer

Ideally a RRRRGB 6 link Body Armor

These are the first 5 links the 6th link should be

for AOE and

for bosses
If you still want to Freeze and Chill use

instead of Elemental Focus

Damage Support

Currently using

Also using

to proc the damage fro Insturment of Virtue.

Movement

This gives us two options to move in one four link with both granting fortify.

Defensive Setup

More to come!

Hey, you can inspire with what I created around GH:
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1840953

It's non crit leech build though (Vaal pact post update update coming shortly).
Thanks for that! I'm currently revising the build I'm going the RT non crit route after the crit route had accuracy problems.
I always wanted to try a GH build so thank you for sharing your build!

I was previously doing the Duelist build of this but Templar feels A LOT better.

Would it be possible to break down the skill tree for leveling?

I know more or less what to do go for first but it always gives some peace of mind to know which direction to go first.

Thanks again!
Leveling trees added
i think gh is the best build for start a league
and become item finder for currency
plus other item can drop a lot
Like the build idea, not so certain the gem setup is going for max damage however. Your glacial hammer setup is spot on, your 6th gem link would be better if you thought about Hypothermia for clearing and added cold for boss fights. Lightning just doesn't keep up with the damage if you're going to focus in on the overall cold damage numbers that glacial hammer will be doing.

Your defensive setup as well would be a bit more beneficial if you took herald of ice rather than herald of fire since fire is only giving you extra fire damage which really isn't benefiting Glacial hammer at all. Not to mention the synergy of shattering enemies with Glacial Hammer giving you an extra AoE with Herald of Ice is absolutely amazing!

Keep in mind as well, with the new Winter Burial threshold jewel we are gaining a free melee splash as well as converting our damage fully to cold, so we have to take advantage of as much phys and cold damage as we can! Overall though, I do like the build :)
