[2.6] Molten Strike Set the World on Fire

I am Pretty new to POE but have been looking for a infernal blow build for 2.6 and ran into yours a few hours after you put it up. I have been following your conversation the whole way and i just want to say, HOLY SHIT!

Yeah same here, I am about to try it on standard with everything except the taming ring which is like 4ex.

Question: do you use 2 razors of the 7th sun blades? I just bought one and am wondering if this build uses 2 or just a high dps sword in the offhand.

Thanks again!

Ill be trying it out as I build the character. Its going to be my lead in build, so I assume ill have to try out a few combinations as I level. I dont expect to have beyond a 5L until late 70s or 80s at best, as the other gear will be expensive, especially given the interest in the build. Getting both razors will likely be a later game purchase when I transition over to Eye of Innocence. In theory regen and flasks will keep me up until then.

The only difference between razor and a standard high roll 1h sword is the 1% regen

Ill keep this up to date as I level, and clean up the post as the build progresses into completion.

Like the idea! What skill would you recommend leveling with? Might be my second build for legacy as some of the items seem pricey at the start.
I will probably run it second too. This build has some pretty heavy downsides :
- Dies really fast to ele reflect rares if you ever hit them (the reflect will launch firestorms on them and you will die like a shit xD). Ele reflect maps should be doable if you tone down your dps accordingly (by removing support gems and auras, you could reach an equilibrium where you take less damage than you heal/regen/leech). But then you might be too slow.
- Cannot kill the guardian of the Phoenix (unless you are a masochist superplayer).
- Cannot do the "90% chance to ignore status ailment" map mod. I think 60% and lower should still be doable (and will be lower tier anyway so you don't need to reach 300 stacks to kill everything).

Captivelemon : For leveling I would recommand...Infernal Blow ? lol

When I saw the original post with a 60k single target dps I though for myself that this build had WAAAAY more potential. Spend my night theorycrafting (I did a lot of underestimation at first, every time I realised that, I understood that the build was actually twice stronger) and I am currently working on a version that can reach up a whooping 70 MILLION dps (final form would cost a hundred exalts though, as expected). DPS over 3M is useless so I am just doing it for giggles at that point. It is pretty intricate so I will most likely post my setup in a month, if the build ends up performing correctly.
I look forward to seeing the comparison. If the builds go well ill keep a guide of options here so that the idea is condensed in a single area. Let me know if you want to map at some point during Legacy.

Burning damage does NOT proc elemental reflect, so if reflect is an issue target 2 to 4 outlying mobs in a pack and hit them. The proliferate should still destroy the pack, and still let the player live. I was planning on just avoiding elemental reflect maps and status ailment avoidance maps. The sheer power of the build outside of those two mods is what the goal is and mapping will be a breeze so long as I a void those.

Ill have some time in a couple of hours to overview the build again and try it with a nights sleep. Ill be patched and logged in after I get off work.

We will see, the version of the build I am working on currently exploit a lot of broken interactions and I am not even finished yet, I am working on improving the clear speed and the overall survivability (if I can thin out the tree and reach Vaal Pact that won't be a problem anymore).

It is very likely that the thing I am crafting at the moment will either not work due to unknown limitation of the code, or make either my computer or the instance crash.

In the slim eventuality my version of the build works out correctly, it could possibly achieve a Vaal Sparker clear speed while blowing up every bosses in a matter of second (except the Phoenix because we are just unable to fight without igniting things).

It is true that ignite does not proc reflect, but I was thinking the basic dps of your build would be enough to kill yourself against a 15% reflect rare. However, I forgot to factor in the character fire resistance, so overall you should be fine. Also, Infernal Blow explosion damage cannot be reflected, which is good because it will be huge. I guess that against bosses with adds, you won't even have to switch to single target setup. Just nuke the pack and watch the boss disapear in a single attack.

I really like that Infernal Blow build overall because, as I said before, I was working on a Viper Strike build for 2.6 and I made it very decent. Then you proposed your idea and I immediatly saw that it was a similar build (stack DoT and scale on the number of stacks), only with a way better scaling.

The final setup I will propose might end up very different from yours. I might even rework the tree entierely and not use Infernal Blow or Avatar of Fire anymore, I don't know at the moment.

One last thing about Avatar of Fire : I am pretty sure it renders the Phys to Lightning support as efficient as an empty slot. Here is my reasoning : You already convert 100% phys to fire. You add 50% light conversion, so you end up converting 66% phys to fire and 33% to lightning. Those lightning are then converted to fire at a rate of 50% (the other 50% are lost), resulting in 17% damage. Then, you gain 29% of lightning damage, which result in 15% of fire damage because of Avatar. You end up losing 33% damage in the initial conversion, and getting 32% back because of the bonus, netting you an overall 1% LESS damage. But you HAVE to get rid of the Ele Prolif gem during single target, because it lowers your damage by 21%. That is why I suggested earlier to swap it for Increased Rarity instead. The effect on single target damage is the same, but you at least get better loot from the boss.
I was hoping to find a better blue gem but oh well. Ill try out a few once I get to try it out.
What bandits do you run on this build?

I would suggest running Oak, Kraitin, passive. Or for merc go Oak and work in a way to generate endurance charges in.

I rolled this as my league starter, now almost level 79. I've spent about 6 ex on gear so far in Legacy Standard, and the only unique I'm missing is the Eye of Innocence. Some things to note: this is not a cheap league starter for new players, and it stalls out until people can start running Phoenix. Mapping became a pain at T7 without the sustain from the Phoenix weapons. I was finally able to pick one up yesterday and another today, and the difference is absolutely massive.

I think it's best to roll this as a second character, personally. At the start of the league Emberwake isn't too bad to get, but The Taming, Razor of the Seventh Sun, and Eye of Innocence are all somewhat expensive to buy to get into the yellow maps with safe enough sustain to have decent clear speed.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, it is really satisfying to see stuff on fire and exploding everywhere, but infernal blow is pretty clunky to use, as most single-target melee skills are.

Also, as for the OP's selection on blue gems, what about Innervate to swap in for boss fights for the shock chance?
