2.6 Ass 2H viper strike idea

Edge of Madness: No longer has Life gained on kill per level. No longer has Increased Elemental Damage per level. Now has 1-2 Physical Damage added per level.

So, now on lvl 90 it's around +90% chaos damage increase + ~193-386 flat phys and 65-100 chaos damage. Should it work fine with assassin ascendancy + viper strike jewel buff? I'm not sure will crit from my tree be enough with bad 5% edge base? And what about life instead of ES? (We need 2H nodes, no way to go ES). Sry for my english.
