[2.6] HC Build Concept - The Chocolate Samurai
So I wanted a decently tanky and somewhat hipster build to start off Legacy and as my first build post. Juggernaut comfortable fulfills the prerequisite of being tanky, which leaves being hipster as the other half so I thought: Why not just make a themed build? Which brings us to the uniques: and This will be a build focused around mostly Kondo's Pride and its ability to do massive increased damage to bleeding targets so for less role-playing potential, alternative armor pieces will be suggested in the gear section. Theoretical Pros: + Very tanky. + Never miss. + Perfect stat distribution from passive tree for gems (Frees up more suffixes). + Not a one button build. + 2.6 patch notes buffed most of what this build needs (Melee Splash, Ice Crash and AoE). + Extremely cheap uniques. Theoretical Cons: - Wasted modifiers on Kondo's Pride due to Resolute technique even though they aren't too important in the context of this build. - Minor passive tree inefficiencies to reach DEX and INT threshold. - Requires more than one main gem setup, giving less gem setups for utility skills. - Not a one button build. Play this build if: > You want to play a completely untested build. > You want to master the blade. > You want to role-play with uniques without 3D art (GGG pls). Disclaimer: This post is currently for getting suggestions to improve the build and will be updated post-2.6 as a fully fledged build guide.
Main Mechanics
The Combo
Bu-but, not going crit is such a waaaaasssttteeee D: The main design concept of Kondo's Pride is to crit periodically so you can still leech while proccing the bleed on crit every few seconds or so. The problem with this is that you will have to risk critting too much and not leeching if you go full crit, or use a periodic crit boost like Romira's Banquet, which will take away a ring slot and give you a very unreliable bleed proc. A good way to circumvent this is to go full crit with Warchief Totems but we're trying to be the samurai here, not the sword caddy. What's getting buffed in 2.6: > Ice Crash has had its damage increased = More dakka > Melee Splash now gains significantly more increased area than it did increased radius as the gem levels, bringing it much closer to equivalent area skills = More people getting bleeded by the utility hit = More dakka in a larger area The Setup: The idea is to have a two-part combo attack, namely, an initial "utility hit" with a melee splash Puncture, followed by a Bloodlust supported Ice Crash to bring down the pain. Of course the utility hit would not just be a bleeder, it is also going to be your Fortifier which achieves two things: - Allows you to support your true main skill with Bloodlust. - You free up one more gem slot in your Ice Crash setup for even more dakka Our Passive tree and Ascendancies will also supercharge our Fortify to grant us a whopping 65% increased damage, which with Kondo's Pride bleed bonus, adds up to 115% increased damage. This coupled with our exclusively multiplicative damage gem setup allows us to raise our dakka to new heights. How to use the Setup: Leap slam until you hit a pack > use Puncture setup on the tankiest monster in the pack > Ice Crash > Rinse and repeat
Survivability and Sustain
The Layers: > Very high health > Moderate to high armor values + Elemental resists > High health regen > 8 Endurance Charges, potentially more > Hyper-boosted fortify Kingsguard: +++ Role-play power Poor stats overall but gives you more leeway with being wasteful with mana and allows you to run an absurdly high level Cast when Damage Taken with high level Immortal Call due to the armor "refunding" the damage taken for CWDT using Immortal Call. Also gives you longer lasting Endurance which is nice. Sustain: Most of your sustainability comes from having a fairly high amount of life regen coupled with Warlord's mark linked with Blasphemy. This also serves to sustain your Endurance charge count and mana costs. Running Blood Rage while clearing mobs (not bosses) allows you to sustain 3 Frenzy charges as well for more clearing power. Blood Rage and Kondo's Pride also contribute to your leech stats.
Trees, Bandits and Ascendancies
Bandits: Oak, Eramir, Oak (+40 Life, +1 Passive Point, +1 Endurance Charge) Ascendancies: Unflinching > Unrelenting > Unyielding > Unbreakable(Stun immunity)/Unstoppable(Clear speed + Partial slow immunity)

Gear
Core Gear
Skin Transfer To transfer a Maraketh 2H Sword to your Kondo's Pride. Kondo's Pride Cornerstone of the build. Kingsguard Swag samurai armor. Veruso's Battering Rams Very good source of damage. High armor and synergizes well with our large Endurance Charge count and Unrelenting to bump up our damage per Endurance to 10%. Shock immunity and move speed is a nice bonus too. Sub-Core Items Kaom's Way Adds another Endurance charge and even more value to Endurance charges. Only one is recommended as there might not be enough resists in gear to compensate. Perseverance Gives life and some resists. But more importantly, gives Onslaught while you are fortified for super clear time and even more value to your utility hit. Attack damage modifier is kind of wasted unless you go hybrid Armor/Eva which is quite easily doable with a few tweaks.
Alternative Chest Pieces
Brass Dome Absolutely fucking ridiculous when paired with Unbreakable and Veruso's Battering Rams. Gives 7k+ armor on its own and removes crit multipliers effectively shutting down alot of risk from elemental status ailments with Veruso's counteracting most of its flaws. Belly of the Beast Massive health boost but has an even lower armor roll than Kingsguard with less utility. We don't do Kaom's Heart here cause I like my gem slots.
