Corrupted gems, what's up?

What does it mean if a gem is corrupted? Not Vaal gems, but normal gems that has the corrupted mod.

A possible result of corrupting a gem is adding a level to it, even if it's already level 20, making it level 21, which is great for spells and some specific supports but not for attacks.
Another possible result of corrupting a gem is nothing happening to it. The level 20 corrupted gems you might be seeing are the results of people attempting to corrupt them to level 21 but failing. That kind of item is called "bricked". Last edited by Rhoa_Power#0936 on Jan 29, 2017, 6:25:05 AM

" Nope. That's what bricked means, you can't modify the item in any way anymore (except a few exceptions using Vorici crafting but that's not for gems). |

Btw in case you did not know:
Gems placed in your second weapon set still gain experience even if you don't use them,a lot of players usually have a second mh/oh or 2h 2nd weapon set with gems leveling,so if for example you want to play SRS (summon raging spirit) you might want to find either 2x 1h with 3x blue sockets each,or a 2h with 6x sockets each and level the gems,that way you will have 6x extra lvl 20 summon raging spirit gems to corrupt for a chance of nailing lvl 21 when they are done leveling. No rest for the wicked.

They can come from corrupted carto boxes too.
