Heard about this game in the Grim Dawn forum a few weeks back and it caught my attention. Though, I will probably wait when the game fully matures before thinking on whether to give it a try or not.

I feel like the art style might be a deal breaker for me.

After Grim Dawn & Path of Exile (hell, even Diablo III) this just looks... off. :/
Looks like Super Nintendo graphics.

There is another ARPG called Wolcen that's also early access, and it looks more promising:

Wolcen uses Cryengine, and could be the best looking Diablo style ARPG ever made after they get the kinks ironed out. Wolcen runs like shit unless you got a PC with a modern Intel CPU in it. The recommended specs are off. You probably want a Haswell or newer CPU for this game. + overclocked.

I've played it. The game has a ways to go, but it has potential. It has an interesting mechanic where you can rotate the skill tree, and connect different combinations of skills in different ways. Look at it like if you had a way to change the pathing to certain keystones and nodes in PoE. Skill tree will be on 4 separate rings, which can be rotated. So the pathing isn't linear in Wolcen. Although they've been really slow updating the game here lately. If they don't pick up the pace, and the EA drags out for too much longer, I might forget the game exists.

There is a difference between thinking a game has potential and being indefinitely interested in the progress of a game regardless of how long they drag it out. I'm definitely not the later. At the pace they're going, I'd be surprised if they had a finished game in 2 years. This is why I don't like supporting early access titles. A friend gifted this game to me on steam when it was on sale though. Anyone looking for a solid game right now , Wolcen isn't it.

A couple of builds I've made in Wolcen, even in Early Access, even with an incomplete skill grid is a mage/tank, elemental archer, and a high dex/crit duel wield 2h warrior/rogue hybrid. Yes there is a keystone that lets you use 2h weapons 1h'd. So you can duel wield 2h maces/greatswords for example. Crossbow builds are massively OP at the moment. But they won't be forever. Like PoE, there are weapon type specific nodes on the skill tree.

Wolcen has dodge/roll mechanics similar to Dark Souls games. Has iframes on the roll. It uses stamina charges which regenerate. Lots of nodes that effect dodge/roll, like give it more Iframes, longer roll distance, crit-after-roll nodes, other bonuses after rolling, etc. On the Warden tree there is a keystone that turns dodge/roll into a protection ward, so you get damage reduction instead of Iframes. Another node that makes the protection ward heal 15% of your HP. That's what I went for on my tank/mage. So yeah, there is potential for a ton of depth.

^ I refunded Wolcen because it felt like a technical alpha. I hope it develops into a good game.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

That's basically what it is. Regardless, it's worth keeping an eye on at the very least. In 2 years it might actually be a decent game.
I tried Chronicon. It's not terrible.

Pieces of gear can roll with mods "% damage as extra elemental damage", not the exact mod's name, but that's essentially what it is. Get that on as many pieces of gear as possible. Ring/accessory/amulet/weapon I know for a fact can roll that mod, possibly others. I found a legendary ring called the "Meteor Ring", which has extra % fire AND ice on it. Like 400% to both. Mine rolled with +100ish more damage mod too. It's basically broken how much of a DPS increase that one ring gives. But the % multiplier multiplies your base damage, even though it doesn't show up on the stat sheet. I'm using attacks that not only oneshot everything on the screen, but groups past the edge of the screen. We're talking 50-100+ kills in 2 seconds.

I have seen some of the trailers and even some gameplay videos from youtube, and yes the entire screen blows up. Pretty much a fun game to try out in between leagues.

when a very PC ziggyd basically openly says your game is trash (Im talking about wolcen), then you know its trash. their hideout game is on point tho, I think it has more mechanics implemented than the actual monster killing.
