Good skill to go with Whispering Ice?

i suggest you change your weapon if youre not going to use ice storm from WI, youre not only wasting a potential 7L you also degrade it to 5L because of the totem . Best totem spell would be flameblast for totem if your cast speed is good , bladefall is also nice

I somewhat disagree...WI totems can be handy if you aren't running Elementalist, as Reflect can be tricky. It's a preference thing for some players too, and adds safety.
That said, you don't run things WITH Whispering Ice, you just run Icestorm. It's a ton of damage. Generally some auras are a good thing. Some people have run Totems for Icestorm and then run a Curse On Hit setup to use, while the Totems are doing the DPS. In general though, POE is often a one DPS skill kind of game. - Sheepster |

WI does not need any supporting skills though. If your WI setup needs another skill, you aren't building WI right. Literally from the moment you can equip WI, it will carry you 100%. U MAD?

I recently switched out a "melee" build to try out the whole cast while channeling support, so I tried out Scorching Ray + Icestorm combo, and they have good synergy.
I am doing this as a Berserker to get another "more" damage modifier for both skills and leech, so I can easily sustain my mana and be more tanky. I went with Pyre ring over AoF since AoF + cold to fire ended up being worse. Just dropping one of the more damage supports rekt my damage on both skills and I prefer to keep fire penetration around because of what scorching ray brings to the table. Edit: It just how I made the build works to how I planned it. I try to avoid copy pasting as much as possible since I want something slightly different while maintaining its identity the same. You might be able to make the WI build work better in another way, but Scorching Ray + Ice Storm is a fun combo to try out as a self caster. You will probably make it better with a proper theorycraft and better gears. Herald of Ash and Hatred do exactly zero for Whispering Ice DPS, unless you do some crazy hipster stuff with Coated Shrapnel, in which case like 0.5% of your damage turns into like 0.8%, not very impressive HoA would be useful for crowd clear if WI didn't already have crazy screen coverage. " this is wrong. CwC whispering ice with scorching ray would like to have a word with you. It's actually the best way to build whispering ice right now. Convert the dmg to fire, and with cwc you would actually have more dps outputs than traditional self-casting or totem. scorching ray is basically the supporting skill which lowers monster resist and dish out additional dps through dots.
