Fun/wacky environmental effects are completely fine IMO.
PoE pvp should be fun oriented not e-sport oriented. Never underestimate what the mod community can do for PoE if you sell an offline client.

jut put lab traps all around, less people will come doing leo and only pvpers will stay.
