So will the casual Xbox one player get godlike gear on day 2 like d3?

Yes... as you guys are saying. Get godly gear is easy, if you are a speculator scumbag btw.

You mean if you're flipping items, or buying exalts, or no lifeing it? We already covered that.

Not trying to get into subjectivity like what a decent amount of wealth is or how much time is no lifeing. I don't think it's an unreasonable statement to say that getting top gear in POE is not easy for most people.

Maybe it depends on the definition of top gear. What I am talking about is a player who makes a new build and has the ability to get all of the gear for that build..20/20 gems, uniques, rares etc etc and have it all within a day or two.

Does a player really need to be rich to do that? Unless it's one of those super expensive builds then I would think any non new player should be able to do that.

My main point is that drops (overall) aren't a big deal in PoE when it comes to getting gear.

The reason why people have stupidly strong gear on XB1 is due to the fact that the game doesn't run in always online mode and thus people are able to edit the item files.

Was that confirmed? They could do always online couldn't they?

That's how D3 works on consoles up to this day. Should GGG decide to have PoE run always online on XB1 no one will ever be able to cheat their way through the game.

I'd be surprised if they did anything except always-online.
- the game model is designed around it, and it'd be far harder to write an offline or mixed version.
- the trade model is designed around it, as of course are drop rates
- built-in hack protection exactly as described. No offline files = nothing local to hack.
- it's F2P, still. They can do what they want because of that.

A console user isn't buying something (I presume), they're not loading a boxed disc to run independently, they're logging into the game.

And on the last point, people saying that most console games have offline mode... most ARPGs were either P2W or had offline modes, then along came GGG.

well I haven't touched this game in well over a year, largely because I don't have time to grind endlessly for orbs or sit and spam a trade chan like I could in the 90's when still in HS. For me, this is a great move. I hope they streamline the hell out of it so the game is actually enjoyable single player like D2 was and GD currently is (which I play daily)
*edit*

Unfortunately I do not own an Xbox1S.5 or whatever it is now, and have no plans on buying one.

You were right about GD all along. I played it enough recently to see it's what I'd be into if I still played pc. As is, my renascent Tq love via tablet shows just how good ironlore/crate are at making true Arpgs.

Will I play PoE on my ps4 should it come out? Probably not. I have to think, would I rather be doing something else with the ps4? The answer will almost always be yes.

I'd play the shit out of it on tablet though, hahaha.

I didn't go through the entire topic reading every post, but one thing I didn't see mentioned is that smart loot for PoE is damn near impossible to implement. How the hell would the game know what build you were doing, or what gear you need? You can run just about anything as any base character.

There is absolutely no way I can see that the game would be able to look at my passive tree and go "oh hey, he clearly wants to play a low-life character, lets throw him a Shavs."

With that said, I think it's fairly obvious we are going to get some type of new trade system implemented. There is no other way around it at this point, trading with trade chat on a console would be an absolute fucking nightmare.

The console crowd has less patience so I imagine the game will be drastically easier or at the very least the horrendous grind from 1 to 60 will be much faster.
