Ascendancy Trials...I'm bummed

Flame Dash can also be very helpful in the Lab, I've discovered, and has some advantages over Lightning Warp, in certain circumstances.
Once you've become accustomed to the Labyrinth portion of the Trials, with all the traps and such, it can be much easier to hunt up Silver keys and Trinkets, as well as to search for Argus for that extra Treasure Key. Unless you just want to speed run and get out, it can be quite profitable to do a thorough exploration. As for Izaro, I don't bother letting him keep any advantages for the final fight, if I can avoid it; I simply want to WIN that last fight and grab my Ascendancy. =^[.]^= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/

At least you weren't as stupid as me... ran through merciless lab, had a really close fight, no flasks left. Went to enchantment device, got a useless helmet enchantment, opened the chest, got two more keys out of it, opened two other chests, stashed some stuff, went back to town.
Stood there and thought "...did I just forget to get my ascendency points???" Yep, I did. Feels stupid. Is stupid. I make dumb builds, therefore I am.

I have a hard time with flamedash. Seems to pin point locations is difficult like it has some fixed distance or a min max or somthing it must travel. Then it also has limited distance while LW can warp any distance. LW is hard to make work well though. Need 3 supports and preferably the warped timepeice ammy and gems at least over 15 before it gets decent. (although rapid decay only needs 1)

There are two ways to do Lab:
- One is over leveling the content with a decent build and gear. - Second one is having a perfectly set up build with no wasted points and centering it around a specific gear piece that your build synergies with. I used the latter (and I usually try to do so). I started this league late (like 2 weeks ago maybe 3) and build a cyclone raider focused around: The other important piece is this amulet that will make your build very powerful: This is the cyclone link: They are relatively cheap items but very powerful. The Level 16 Molten Burst will be supported by every single gem in the weapon regardless if they are linked. After I equipped it and the build got some more points. I did UBER LAB at level 73 on the first try. I almost got oneshoted by last phase Izaro because of the charges mod he had. Check my character's build and gear: https://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAABAIBAABeBLMFLQd1CC4NjQ48FE0UcRR1FyYYkRmOGjghVSKvI9Mj9icgJy8s-y5TMHEwfDJ-Mok31DhTOkI6UjrYPAU8vj7PQKBB0EMxR35KfUt4TP9Nkk4qUUdTu1nzWhpbr14TX3BhUmVNZlRoZXKpdO12rHbnd-V4enqEeu982X11gpuDbYTZhO-Fe4Zgh2qHdooijX2Nv49gkAqQVZo7m42f36IAo4qkwqknqZSsqryfvTa95r6nv9XAZsCmwzPPftCt02_TftQj2NXawdw93ajjn-oY7Djtg-4O707veu988B_z3fcy-Ov8S_zF_ro=?accountName=Bone2flesh&characterName=VeganLivesMatter To conclude you simply need to research a bit as anew player before you start. the game can be overwhelming and normal and cruel will deceive you about the actual difficulty. " GGG has always had a problem with content difficulty. Time and time again GGG misses the "goldilocks" zone for content challenge. For new players just about any build is good through Normal, Cruel, and Merciless up to Belly of the Beast. So a new player rolls his/her own build without any knowledge of PoE game mechanics and cruises through 3 times with only a few boss battle speed bumps to slow down play (Merc BotB is skipped). Then the rude awakening occurs when the player finds out that the build is not endgame viable and will need to re-roll a better build. Meanwhile new players that haven't read up on The Labyrinth will get smacked down hard if they try to run it at the exile levels 33, 55, and 68. After all since end zone bosses can be taken on and defeated without over-leveling then taking on Izaro at the same level is assumed to be ok too. But since GGG has deliberately made Izaro uber for that level the reality of needing to over-level by about 10 levels (your playing skills will vary the over-leveling required) before killing Izaro is unknown by new players and thus they die quickly and are left with a WTF just happened. Repeated efforts usually end in death and just like PoE_Eric the inability to kill Izaro tarnishes the new players overall view of PoE. Dieing a lot on one specific boss when most others can be dispatched easily tends to do that. Therein is the crux of the problem with PoE. With most of the bosses easily killed (or at least killed without being one-shot) these boss death traps and content spikes can easily put off new players (I hope an old comment from Chris that about 50% of all new players quit before reaching Normal Act II due to dieing to Brutus or Merveil many times is no longer true) and the OP's comments about feeling like quitting PoE entirely from frustration are not surprising. Everyone, new, old, casual, grinders, etc. all complain about content difficulty spikes and death traps. I have a level 90 build now and still haven't killed uber Izaro for the last 2 ascendancy points yet (I need more life, 4.2K is not enough). GGG has an impossible task (or mess) with the number of build combos possible in PoE and thus will never be able to balance content difficulty for all builds. The sooner new players realize this the sooner they can get out or find their own "goldilocks" way to play PoE. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. The perfect solution to fix Trade Chat: www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2247070 |

Hiding your character screen makes it VERY difficult to give feedback on your builds. The most likely issue is your playstyle + build in this case.
If you find it so hard you could always team up and do it with someone else. Honestly quitting just because you can't clear certain content seems really like an overreaction. You probably don't stop playing since you can't kill Atziri either, right? Which is definitely harder than lab/Izaro. I'm looking forward to a constructive reply from you. path of exile expert

"Meh, if people know how to finish all the trials they should also have a basic concept of how to play PoE. You are also not taking in mind that OP actually already killed Izaro two times. path of exile expert

" I feel you. I don't know if it ever took me a whole hour, but over a half hour for sure. And I was REALLY hating the lab because so many times I got bitch slapped by Izaro after all that work. I still don't really like the lab but I hate it a lot less since working out a few things. For one, I modified my entire leveling strategy and started skipping all side quests. Just run run run as fast as possible, only doing the minimum to unlock the zones and kill enough to stay maybe a couple levels below the zone level, or just enough to be comfortable surviving the monsters in the area. I'll do that all the way through act 3 merciless, then go back with my mostly built character to run all the skill point quests, trials, and normal and cruel labs. I think last time I did it, my character was about level 62 and I started running white T1 maps to level up quick. After I got to about level 70 I did merciless lab easily. But I'm on standard with all kinds of leveling gear in my stash, so you being a newer player may have to over level a bit more to compensate. As for running the lab it's self, I like to get my regen and runspeed up as much as possible. I like timeworn clasp and immortal flesh for running safely through traps (If you use blood rage, be sure to take the gem out in the trap areas). You can swap into your regular gear if needed for Izaro fights, but being so overleveled makes up for a lot of gear deficiency so I usually just run what I have on. Also on the first two Izaro fights, if you do some extra running around and killing/disabling his 3 buff devices it will make the last fight a TON easier. As for finding your way through the lab quickly, you'll develop a feel for it eventually. Go to http://www.poelab.com/ to get some idea of where to find the zone connections which typically seem to be around the top right portion of the area. That site helped me a lot, but what really helped a lot was me running merci lab about 30 times one day. The experience was invaluable. I'm still not fast and I still don't exactly love doing labs, but I can usually get through in about 10 minutes which is pretty bearable. Hope that helps you over the labyrinth blues! |

"honestly what's with all the stuff like 'run safe through traps? why not do what you are supposed to do: AVOID them? really bad advice and stuff like this is a workaround, not a solution path of exile expert

" Yeah you're probably right but I've never been able to get through clean and some regen makes it SO much better for me when I get hit. With a bit of regen on the tree and a bit of regen gear as well, trap damage is trivial, which I like! I'll admit I'm not good at POE though and probably would be wise for me to just shut up and log off from the forum. Here's me shutting up :| |
