Ascendancy Trials...I'm bummed

So my first character a cyclone duelest dude I enjoy the heck out of and I"m hooked on the game. I blow through the Ascendancy Trials on Normal and Cruel first try no problem, thinking its a fun dungeon. Then I hit Merciless and start dieing to Izaro on the last phase after waiting an hour. I try multiple times with the same result and frustration builds.

Think to myself...well this is a tough game, gotta respect that. So I make a new character caster. have fun with that character until I reach normal Ascendancy and I start dying in NORMAL to Izaro...after taking an hour to get to the final phase. Do that a few times and think to myself "well this character must be bad" even though no troubles at any point up to then.

So I create a NEW character thinking I need more defenses so I make a templar elemental damage shield dude and just having a ton of fun! I love this game! I skip Normal Ascendancy to avoid the frustration until I'm level 43. I'm thinking man this guy just melting everything, I'm gonna go get my first Ascendancy points.

An hour later I'm at Izaro 3rd phase and die with him at like 10%. I'm literally staring at the screen just thinking...really? This is such a great game but I think I've got to quit because these Ascendancy failures are just sucking all the fun out of it for me.

I know I'm a whiny loser with no skill, and I actually came to the forums to cry about it...but damn I'm just sad that I have to stop playing a game because of this one thing. If it wasn't an hour to get to the end I wouldn't mind getting my ass kicked over and over, but wasting an hour on content that is trivial for my level and still die by the boss absolutely kills the game for me.

/aligator tears.

Also, did you destroy everything from the previous two Izaro battles before doing the final one?

This is a case of failure to learn on your part. It's a battle that you need to understand before you dive in.

The problem with your builds are that they're mindless up until the point where they're not... and you haven't ever had a chance to actually learn to play them.
I recommend following a build guide so you have a better idea about creating characters since it sounds like yours are not good.

Depending on my character, I may wait as long as act 3 in the next difficulty to do a lab. For example, when I get to act 3 cruel, go back to Normal and run lab. Although it can make the game easier, you don't really need to ascend that early.

Also, a big part of lab is learning the fight and the layout. Since both change daily, some days are harder than others. Maybe you were trying on a harder day. There is no shame in trying multiple times. I tried uber lab 15 times before I beat it. Each time, you should be able to run through it faster since you should be able to remember the layout after a couple runs. POELAB.com helps too since they give you the layout.

Either way, quitting PoE because you can't beat lab after a few attempts is pathetic. If you like the game, just keep trying and you'll get it eventually. I'm doing that with shaper right now. Tried 4 times and failed all of them... back to grinding t16 i guess...

I was wondering. Honestly with my first cyclone character I thought Izaro was pretty easy in Normal and Cruel...the path through was pretty straight forward. With my next characters the zones of the trials seemed to multiply and weren't straight-forward. Was actually wondering if POE made them harder after you had been through them.

Flaming me for being a whiner is appropriate, but I just want to clarify that I'm not complaining about getting my ass kicked by Izaro. Its the hour of wasted time I spent getting to the final fight. That time is precious to me and burning it over and over is overwhelmingly frustrating.

I do admit to not doing enough research on the boss fight to understand whats going on. I will do that. I think the fact that I didn't find Normal and Cruel Izaro to be difficult with my first toon is so shocking the brick wall I'm hitting in Normal on subsequent characters.

Thanks for the feedback.
It's not wasted time when you're learning something in the process. Like how to navigate the labyrinth and traps efficiently and with the least risk or the attack behavior of Izaro and how the different phases work.

Eventually you will realize what you were doing wrong, adjust your tactics and ascend.
"Into the Labyrinth!
left step, right step, step step, left left.
Into the Labyrinth!"
Izaro is the most complicated boss by a very long shot, because of how the features change daily and how the first two encounters with the boss in a single run carry into the final fight.

It's a good idea to have a good solid read of the following, to get a better idea of how he works:

Just do it like me OP... I don't even bother with lab until Im lvl 60+ then I dedicate a day to trials & lab and I blast through normal ez mode. I might have alittle struggle in cruel cause I'm a bad player and on labtop.
After that-(lvl 70+) I don't even bother attempting merciless- I go straight for carry!

3 chaos, 5 chaos whatever the cost is it's worth it to avoid the frustration. Uber lab too, I pay for carry then usually tip alittle extra cause I'm so grateful XD

Dude just level up more and come back to it...
ProbablyGettingNerfed - L100 Occultist
Vinktarded - L100 Pathfinder
GoogleDiversityHire - L100 Necromancer

3.13 was the pinnacle of PoE. IVYS+1 Gang 4 Life.
I have a lot of experience dozens of end game build guides and wait till like 65 to do normal. Not that I cant do it eariler but why not make it as fast and painless as possible?

I usually do cruel right after that. Then finish getting my last skill point in act 4 and do merciless.

Some other tips
-Stack EHP on your builds take DPS last
-Wear tabula rasa for 6L DPS ASAP
-movespeed and mobilty skills are time and life savers. 30 MS boots and lightning warp or whiling blades are excellent.
-do trails and lab together. Dont even bother with trails till ready for lab.

Takes me about 30 minutes to do normal & cruel trails and labs back to back at ~65 this way.
Git R Dun!
