Title seems a bit misleading, CwC does work with Whispering Ice. The only thing you have to do is have a channeled skill (preferably spell) be linked with CwC and it will cast Icestorm. Icestorm is not a channeled skill, so it will not cast another spell.
Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.
