Is chayula breach only spawn in map area or have a level restriction？

Level restriction-yes, map only-no.

My impression was that it was in fact map only, based on getting a few in tier 1-2 maps but never any in merc dried lake. Have no hard evidence for this though.

There is no official info on this, and they are too rare to tell. But I think I remember getting one while doing some prophecies, maybe I'm getting old. If I had to guess level 60+, but better to stick to maps if you can.

In my first 3 weeks of the Breach league I got 88 Chayula pieces, that was while I was on leave, I think I even got a few in Dried Lake Merc.
Since going back to work on the 3rd and playing for ~3 hours a day during the week and 8 hours over the weekend per day, I haven't even found one "1" Chayula Breach. That's doing various area's / maps etc.

Still wondering how I'm going to complete this challenge if I can't even find the breach, never mind the boss in the breach to obtain the pieces that drop.

Does anyone know where the best place is to find these breaches?

They definitely seem to spawn more in higher tier red maps from my experience.

I had one spawn in Dried Lake (not a Map)

but there are some patch notes out there somewhere that shows they have higher drop rate in higher tier Maps

First of all, all my findings are limited by small sample size of maps and fact I play solo self-found.

I found, as of yesterday, 150 Chayula splinters. I definitely found Chayula breaches in non-map areas, I can only recall encountering them in Merciless (this can be skewed by a fact I dont pay much attention to breaches while leveling in normal through cruel difficulty).

I now have 3 characters past 80, one of them is lvl94. I have ocmpleted 4000+ map tiers of the challenge, which clearly shows I have spent most of my time in mid-tier maps. In all that time and splinters, I have not seen single Chayula spawn in a breach (challenge to obtain splinters still incomplete).

Lastly, I'm pretty much playing only tier10 and any red maps I can get my hands on in last week. I do not observe any increase in Chayula breaches spawn rate, it is usual mix of Tul, Esh and occasional Uul-Netol. Xoph is rather rare in higher mat tiers and Chayula pretty much non-existent all around.
