Frost Blades with Cold Steel

Hey All,

I've been trying to formulate a Frost Blades build using Cold Steel gems. The thought was to convert a large amount of +% physical damage to +% cold damage. But, as I'm reading more into damage calculations and conversions and whatnot, it seems that +% physical would boost Frost Blades damage just as much as +% cold would.

Could anyone help me out here? For example, would +100% physical damage boost Frost Blades' damage just as equally as +100% cold damage?

No, physical damage bonuses will affect all damage that frost blades do because the cold part was converted from physical, and cold damage bonuses will affect only the 40% that got converted to cold.

Things change if you use an elemental weapon though. Example: cospri's malice. In that case, boni to cold damage will be much more effective.
