Vorici Stuck in Daily Mission

I completed a Vorici daily mission while dead, and now he's stuck in his daily zone, refusing to return to the hideout. It's his "keep target at low life for 8s" mission, and I died to the target's Flameblast while he was on low life, so the mission completed while I was dead.

I can't create a portal but can go back to hideout using the portal at the beginning of the zone, but the mission cannot be "completed" and he doesn't go back to the hideout. The only thing I can do is to abandon the mission to bring him back to the hideout (which I have done), even though technically I completed the mission.

Before I abandon the mission, I tried taking the portal at the beginning of the zone to go back to the hideout, but Vorici isn't there:

You failed it but the mission is complete. To get him back to the hideout, type /abandon_daily or select that option from another master in your hideout.

So you can't die in that mission? I was sure the target did not die - I purposely swapped over from my flameblast totem guy to my bow guy (with no DoT stuff) so that I could do Vorici missions.

You can die. You just can't be outside the mission when it ends. Stay dead until the timer reaches 0 and you get credit for the mission.

Yes. If completion is imminent just stay dead until the 8 seconds is up and you get credit.
