[2.5] Inquisitor Skin of the Loyal Scorching Ray. The Lazorphile.

Scorching ray is good. With a +1 level gem chest, it's even better. Furthermore it's not a Tabula and you will get some defenses from it. I present to your: Skin of the Loyal.

Concept
Scorching Ray has been proven to be very good, especially with higher spell level from items like Searing Touch or Infernal Mantle.
With the coming of the new chest piece Skin of the Loyal and Skin of the Lord, I decided to try out Scorching Ray to see how powerful it can get.

Skin of the Loyal give +1 to all gems, including Empower, so we are talking about a +5 to gem level chest:1 (from chest properties) + 4 (empower 4 + 1) = a whopping 5 levels, bringing Scorching Ray to new height, while still supporting a good ES pool with 100% increased global defense (translates into 100% increased ES)

Offense/Defense

Offense: High level Scorching Ray, Elemental Equilibrium, Elemental Overload, 6l chest. At level 82, with a level 18 Scorching Ray and level 2 Empower I have somewhere around 10.5k Dots first stage. Imagine it's damage potential with a level 4 Empower and a level 20 or 21 Scorching Ray, Damage will be insanely high. Blasphemy Flammability, Vulnerability on flask use as well to boost it further.

Defense: currently at 9.4k ES on very mediocre gear. Can improve by a lot if I take more ES nodes and improve my gears in general. Stun immune from Eye of Chayula.
Using Stone Golem with Zealot Oath, on consecrated Ground I regen about 1.5k ES per second, immune to status effect.

Gear

Current gear is very mediocre, and all self crafted or self founded except for the Loyal chest.

Reason for using Doryani's Catalyst: this is the best option in my opinion, for the high ele damage and more importantly, attack speed. With a base attack speed of over 1.5 you will have much better mobility using shield charge and remove some of the sluggishness of the build.

Flask includes:

Sorrow of the Divine is the must have flask because it generates Consecrated Ground, which is essential in the build for both offense and defense.
Witchfire Brew is staple Dots build flask for blasphemy Vulnerability and increased Dot damage.
Basalt Flask with reduced charges uses and bleed removal so you can use it twice without filling.
Granite flask for general phys mitigation. The best would be Chemist's flask of Iron Skin.
50% instant Mana flask, because the build uses a 6l channeling spell it will cost a lot of mana, and this flask makes sure you are top off, mostly in reduced regen maps.

Passive

Level 82

Leveled as a hybrid up until level 68 or 69, when I can equip most of the essential ES pieces, then trasition to ES without wasting too many respec.
Pick up life nodes along the way before CI is recommended or suffer from dying in Dried Lake.

Level 88

I tweaked the tree a bit, respecting and stuff here and there. I have more ES now with this tree and some more dmg. I will get to Corruption next, then try to take the jew socket near Templar. Upgrade the gloves to have more ES and some dex so I feel more comfortable.

Bandit: Kill/Alira/Kill
I went for the cast speed because that's is both damage and rotate speed.

Skillgem

6l mandatory Skin of the Loyal: Scorching Ray + Empower + Controlled Destruction + Ele Focus + Faster Casting + Rapid Decay.
For this setup, Skin of the Loyal with G R B B B B is a must.

4l aura: Discipline + Blasphemy + Flammability + Enlighten. Enlighten helps with the mana a bit.

4l CWDT: CWDT + Arctic Breath + GMP + Vaal Lightning Trap. Vaal Lightning trap is irrelevant to CWDT setup but very good for damage boost. Alternatively, CWDT IC Inc Duration works even better with Vaal Lightning Trap because Inc Duration also supports Lightning Trap for longer Shock ground.

Orb of storm setup: Orb of storm + inc Crit strikes + inc AOE. This procs both Ele overload and Ele Equilibrium, mandatory. If I ever decided to replace 1 ring with Doedre Damning and use a tri curse setup, then Orb of Storm + Inc AOE + Curse on Hit + Temp Chain is the best setup. You lose some Ele overload consistency but doesn't matter, It will be up all the time anyway.

Movement: Shield Charge + Faster atk + Fortify. Pretty good atk speed from Inquisitor Ascendancy and Doryani's Catalyst.

Vaal Discipline setup: Vaal Discipline + Stone Golem + Inc Duration. Alternatively you can have 2 Vaal Discipline if you think that's not Overkill. Stone golem gives better normal mapping experience with more ES regen all the time.

I fucked up my Bleed flask here, or else I wouldn't have died.

Quick and effortless normal Atziri

Hall of GM down, at level 88 on 10k ES. I'm pretty sure I can do it deathless even if I manage my flask better. Important to have Vaal Discipline up for the final row of Exiles.

I really want to build a scorching ray character.

Can this build do all content?
I am doing this build in Breach League right now. Levelling to cruel was a bit slow but now it works. WIll keep everybody utd.

Heres my Gear so far:

Spoiler
I just did Hall of GM. I'm pretty sure with better gear I can take on all contents. So far so god. I will try Guardian once I can upgrade my shield and get like 11k es or so.

The only hard part is to get enough dex and str for the gems. Other than that its pretty good.

Edit: New skill tree at level 88. Tweaked the tree a bit for more ES.

I uploaded a fast normal Atziri just to showcase the damage of the build, with a level 19 Scorching Ray and a level 3 Empower.

Hey,

upgraded some of my Gear and am at 8k ES now. Lab was ok, Mapping is quite easy. Only concern is about the Mana Issue. I am too fast on low mana for my kind of taste. ;)

Anyway will keep on trying to upgrade more and once I hit the 80 I will get a Opal Ring and Crystal Belt.

My Gear sofar:
Spoiler
I always have a mana flask with me. I don't think its possible to not worry about mana issue unless I sacrifice damage or ES for mana and regen nodes. Alternatively you can also take the mana and skill cost node is the templar area. With that I'm certain that I can sustain mana 100% the time on consecrated ground.
I also did a Vaal Temple and it was quite smooth, except for the fact that trio boss is a bitch and I died there 2 times. Kinda on a hard corrupted roll with 40% monster life or something, so fight takes forever and I run out of bleed flask.

Bane of existence of this build is no regen since this build has no leech whatsoever.

This BUild began to shine with Doryanis. And since I am at lvl 80+ and upgraded my gear again Content is mostly really easy.
Uberlab was no problem at all.

But I made some changes to the skill tree.

First off: you took a Int and Str Nod at the Templer starting area (left) to get to Elementalist. I changed that and took a Spell and Ele Dmg Nod. Seems more important to me.
Then I choose to take a swing to the upper left when going to CI to take essence surge. The 3 Nods there gives me a fair amount of ES Reg Rate and quicker start of Recharge. This feels more than safe Regeneration than before.

The rest is fine though. Thx for this build, its really fun to play.

My upgraded gear of course:
Spoiler

Forgot: I also choosed to double curse with Orb of Storms and Blasphemy instead of the Flask. But thats a matter of taste I guess.
I have a plus one Chayula and want to run this build with tri-curse. Do you guys think curse on hit orb of storms is better than temp chains in a blasphemy setup alongside the flammability using Heretic's Veil?
Looking for some input.

If you use Heretics, which means you will lose some ES, I would assume that temp chains would be a nice chance to survive more often.

I did quite often the Hexproof MapMod and it is really minimal noticeable that there is some less dmg dealt. I have now 18k burning dmg per sec. When I get all the buffs working I am at 30k. This is OP as hell. I burn everything down in a short time. I run Breaches, Bosses up to T15 and Izaro in Uber as well.

I spent some time and currency to maximize my gear though. So with 10.6k ES and the dmg as stated above is really a strong build. I am looking forward to spec the last 3 DMG Nodes and level my gems to 20 (19/Q20 now).

I love this Build ;D
