Why doesn't Cast while Channeling work with Wither???

As the title asks, Why? Why is Wither a near-worthless skill? Bad enough that Blight is worthless, but to have Wither, a Channeling skill, not make use of Cast while Channeling seems rather broken.
I had a vision in my head of Spell Totem/Wither/Cast while Channeling/Contagion.... but, no. Doesn't work. Tried swapping out Contagion for Frostbomb.... but, no, How about Summon Skeleton... no. Firestorm?.... no. Vulnerability?.... no. Elemental Weakness?... no. Temporal Chains... no. Anything at all????.... you guessed it. NO!!! Wither isn't considered channeling neither is uh Lightning tendrils lol

Isn't the issue there Spell Totem? Totems tend to have trouble with multiple links, because they use the support gem to check their own gems, find none, and fail. This is also why you can't Curse on Hit with Totems.

Wither does work with Cast while Channeling if you're manually casting Wither; a spell totem cannot be supported by Cast while Channeling.
