[2.5] Chin Sol Blast Rain Tanky Vacuum Chieftain



Intro
Welcome to this guide for my variation on blast rain Chin Sol! I decided I should make this guide as I couldn't find any variations of blast rain that interested me when I decided to play the skill. So with the help of some old guides guides I put together a character that I feel clears well in high-tier maps, uber labyrinth, and is generally quite tanky! Note that in this guide I do provide some options in terms of gear or passive choices that are based on preference so there may be some variations between my end game stats and yours.

Strengths
+ Enough damage to reliably clear high tier (T15) maps
+ High degree of physical damage mitigation (13k armour unbuffed, 31k with jade flask of iron skin. Up to 7 endurance charges. 13%-14% phys mitigation from arctic armour. Total phys mitigation from charges + AA (lvl 19 or 20) + Basalt = 61% phys mitigation WITHOUT accounting for armour!)
+ Approximately 11.5% HP regen PLUS an additional 0.7% regen per charge for a total of up to 16.4% regen
+ Very good leech. We get 3% leech as well as 1% of our totem damage leeched to us, this feels comfortable when combined with our life regen and allows us to leech/regen tank on bosses
+ Fairly cheap uniques. I bought my perfect 6L Chin Sol for 6ex about 1-1.5 weeks into the breach league. A few days prior (while I was unfortunately poorer) there was one nearly perfect for 4ex!
+ With the conversion from the signal fire for 100% fire damage, we can run phys reflect maps. Unfortunately, this means that we get hurt more by ele reflect mobs and cannot smoothly run ele reflect maps.


Weaknesses
- Moderate mapping clear speed. It's not terribly slow as you can see in the videos below, but it's also not going to give you the clear speed of a lot of meta builds.
- Life based. However, we still get 6.5-7k hp.
- AoE can feel a little small at times. You could drop concentrated effect while mapping, especially for speed running lower tiers.

It is possible to play around with the tree a bit to suit it to your liking. You could grab the scion life wheel for more life and/or the indominable cluster for more armour/reduced crit damage taken.
Bandits: Oak (Life) - Kill (point) or Kraityn (atk speed) - Oak (Endurance Charge)

Priorities:
Boots: 30% movement speed is a must -> Life -> Resistances -> Armour/Evasion
Rings, amulet, belt: Ele damage with weapons -> Life -> Resistances -> Int -> Strength -> Armour/Evasion
The rest of your items are uniques, as a result you may need to spend a bit to get your resists capped. Don't worry too much about getting ele weakness res capped, your endurance charges give 4% res each so you will usually be capped.

I honestly believe that all these are doable with this build. However, I am not the among the better players mechanicly, so I have yet to try some of these.
- Shaper
- Guardians (Will attempt it later in the league - I have yet to do these on any character I have played)
- Chayula Breach Domain (Will do it once I get the shards)
- Uber Atziri
- Hardcore league (I don't play HC, third world internet will not allow for it)

Looks interesting... how about
1. Replacing RaT with IceShot+GMP+CoH+Flammability ? (Iceshot supported with knockback in EG)
2. With Blasphemy gone, running EssenceWork with Grace along with AA+HoA ?
3. Running PoF in EW helps in reflect a lot ?

Thanks for sharing the build.. After playing it a bit, I understand that blasphemy can't be replaced. simply no time to shift between iceshot and blastrain between packs.. but I replaced RAT with CWDT(4)+vortex(7)+flamegolem(6)+enduring cry(20)
In helmet, using CWDT(20)+moltenshell(20)+ID(20)+bloodrage{20}
At this moment, not sure anything about min-maxing but it is just my variation..

I do really like the idea of running an essence worm for grace (and potentially running ele ref maps or high fire damage boss maps with PoF). I may try to upgrade my jewelry to be able to be res capped while still using essence worm. Just from quick calculations by swapping one of my current rings for an essence worm, DPS goes from about 34450 to 32740 (difference of 1710) and life from 6733 to 6540 (difference of 193)(calculations done in the program "path of building") but armour shoots up from 13k to 24.5k (difference of 11.5k) which is pretty significant! Essence worm will most likely be a goal for me.

The ranged attack totem is definitely something that can be played around with. For general map clearing, one or two shots of blast rain from the main attack is usually enough. The only time I rely on the ranged attack totem is for some bosses that don't allow for face tanking since our ascendancy provides .

Some options that I can think off off the top of my head (all in gloves for the bonus knockback):
RAT-BR-FA-WED: decent damage setup
RAT-BR-COH-FLAM: For cursing so I can drop blasphemy
ICESHOT-GMP-COH-FLAM: As you (chikkivasan) suggested for cursing to drop blasphemy. This would be better for cursing packs when mapping while RAT-BR-COH-FLAM would likely be better for bosses (Atziri, Izaro, breachlords, etc.). The empire grasp gloves are super cheap, so it wouldnt be hard to have two sets of gloves laying around with different colours.
Could try out a variety of bow skills (LA, SHRAPSHOT, BR, ICESHOT).
