Overkill and Culling Strike

Overkill and culling (and by extention, the Bane of Legends effect, which is not culling) can fundamentally never interact. Overkill occurs if your hit kills an enemy and dealt more damage than the enemy's remaining life. Culling ocurs if your hit didn't kill an enemy but brought them to below 10% of their maximum life (the Bane of Legends effect is the same, but for 20%). These can't be true at the same time.


The Scion ascendancy Slayer reads:
"
Culling Strike
30% increased Damage against Rare and Unique Enemies
10% of Overkill Damage is Leeched as Life
Your Damaging Hits always Stun Enemies that are on Full Life


Is GGG trolling is with that ascendancy?!

P.S. Does overkill work with spells? Flameblast or Firestorm for example?

How so? Just because you have Culling, doesn't mean you Cull literally every enemy...
Yes, Spells can also Overkill.

By extension then, the overkill spells can leech - right?

I guess the overkill has to happen to an enemy with more than 10% life.

Correct. The passive does not specify any kind of damage type.

Correct again. You'll have to bring the enemy from above 10% to below zero in a single blow.
