eldritch battery

I have no clue what to make of this passive. Good? bad? cuz personally it seems like losing the shield would hurt something fierce.

In my opinion Witch without Energy Shield is dead witch ;)

my thoughts exactly, mana isnt something were often strapped for whereas i run when my shield is gone

But hey - we supposed to be long range artillery and not hit at all.

Hardcore deadly combo:
Eldritch Battery + 80% Energy Shield and 1hp ^^

Mostly this is good class and hard to choose proper 'Elite' passive skill for it.

But some addition to skills would be good.
Better fire skill, some lightning too.
More skills in particular.
Yes, this would provide more balance issues, but there will be bonuses of that too.

does eldritch battery work with chaos inoculation? cuz wow that'd be tons of mana and no life whatsoever. a true glass cannon

I have a witch that aims for 200% HP with etheral knives, this passive is very useful for killing mana problems, resist problems, etc.

My best witch so far uses eldritch battery. I use templar & marauder health regen + life nodes and the templar armor (+es -> mana) and marauder armor. I use combo armor/es, armor, or es gear. I run 2 40% auras + clarity + discipline + grace pretty soon. There is nothing like having 100+ hp/sec and 100+ mana/sec.

EB is mainly for aura stacking. I don't see any advantages just by having a huge mana pool.

Obviously if you have a huge mana pool you should use it for something - so of course you'll aura stack.

But your mana regen rate and mana leech rate are based on your maximum mana, so EB will dramatically increase both. This is a pretty significant advantage in addition to the aura stacking.
