[2.5] Incinerate Tank: Cast When Channelling Edition (Hybrid Necromancer)

Ever want to shoot flames from your hand and watch your foes around you explode every 0.35 seconds all the while being unbelievably tanky?

Short build highlights video!

This build might be for you. It utilizes the newly released Cast While Channelling (CwC) support gem together with Incinerate and Romira's Banquet to create ceaseless Discharge.

The good things

More than 7K EHP: 5K+ Life and 2K+ Energy Shield (ES).

Instant ES leech (thanks to Vaal Pact).

Up to 1500 Life regenerated instantly per second while casting (thanks to Kingsguard).

70/75 Block/Spell Block and 500+ Life replenished on block instantly (thanks to Bone Offering).

Can run virtually any map mods. Doesn't rely on regen, leech or curses to function. Elemental reflect and reduced block are annoying but bearable.

The bad things

Relatively expensive, the build doesn't start to come together properly until you get a Voll's Devotion.

Susceptible to physical one-shots, degens and Chaos damage.

Single target damage isn't spectacular.

Flare (Level 90 Necromancer) Breach League

The key to this build is synergy. We use Romira's Banquet to generate Power Charges via Incinerate (a channelling spell that has 0% base crit chance) which are then expended by Discharge triggered by Cast When Channelling (CwC). Using Voll's Devotion, we then gain Endurance Charges which are consumed in the next Discharge trigger, replenishing our life pool massively thanks to Kingsguard. We achieve 70/75 block by use of Rathpith Globe and the Mistress of Sacrifice Necromancer Ascendancy, which allows Bone Offering to also affect the player instead of just minions. This also gives us an insane 500+ life on block. Both Incinerate and Discharge are linked to Life Leech which instantly replenishes our ES through Ghost Reaver and Vaal Pact. It is a true hybrid build - both Life and ES resources are regenerated consistently and used as a damage buffer.

Gear

Required Uniques

Romira's Banquet: This is how we generate our Power Charges. Since Incinerate never crits, whenever it hits an enemy (every 0.2 seconds on a single target with 0% cast speed) a Power Charge is generated. It is not optional!

'Almost' required Uniques

Voll's Devotion: Turns our Power Charges into Endurance Charges once Discharge consumes them, almost doubling our damage output and making us a lot tankier due to...

Kingsguard: Turn those Endurance charges into instant life regeneration!

Recommended Uniques

The Scourge: Turns all of our Necromancer Ascendancy passives that grant Minion Damage into global generic damage increase. Huge DPS boost. The Spirit Wolves are pretty weak but do help clear up trash.

Cybil's Paw: Cast speed and a big amount of spell damage increase due to our high block chance. Long-term upgrade is The Scourge, but this cheap claw does serious work and is fine to use for any tier maps.

Rathpith Globe: ES, life, spell damage and juicy spell block. What more could you want?

Essence Worm: Allows use of a free aura with Blood Magic keystone, also enabling the Commander of Darkness Ascendancy notable bonuses.

Vessel of Vinktar: VP + Vinktar + lightning damage = incredible leech. Shocking bosses helps boost our single target damage, just make sure to bring an "of Grounding" flask to use alongside it!

Clear Mind: Free spell damage.

Other gear

Everything else just grab as much ES and life as you can while maintaining capped resistances. You'll probably want to get some Dexterity on gloves to equip a high level Haste. Bone Offering enchant on the helm is important but a bit of a luxury - you should have about 60/70 block without it!

For jewels, prioritize cast speed and critical strike multiplier.

Gems

Gem links are listed in order of importance, so if you only have a 5L remove Elemental Focus from main skill. This build is relatively flexible in terms of gem set-up, the only 'core' requirements are using Incinerate CwC Discharge and Bone Offering.

6L: Main skill
Incinerate - Cast While Channelling - Discharge - Life Leech- Controlled Destruction - Elemental Focus

3L Shield: Movement skill
Whirling Blades (or Shield Charge) + Faster Attacks + Fortify

1S: Essence Worm
Haste

3L: Utility
Minion Damage + Increased Duration + Poison (if you're using The Scourge)

Now there's a few different set-ups you can do with the rest, I've listed a couple here.

Option 1, with Immortal Call

4L: Buffs
Bone Offering + Desecrate + Tempest Shield + Increased Duration

4L: CWDT 1
CWDT + Desecrate + Bone Offering + Increased Duration

4L: CWDT 2
CWDT + Immortal Call + Elemental Weakness + Increased Duration/Increased AoE

Option 2, no Immortal Call

4L: Buffs
Bone Offering + Desecrate + Tempest Shield + Increased Duration

4L: CWDT
CWDT + Desecrate + Bone Offering + Increased Duration

4L: Tempest Shield
Tempest Shield + Chain + Curse on Hit + Elemental Weakness

Bandits and Ascendancy

Normal: Oak (+40 Life)
Cruel: Passive or Alira (5% Cast Speed)
Merciless: Alira (+1 Power Charge)

Necromancer: Mistress of Sacrifice - Spirit Eater - Commander of Darkness - Minion Damage nodes (Uber lab is irrelevant unless you're using The Scourge)

Levelling

Level as SRS, Flameblast CwC Firestorm or something else life based that makes use of either minion, spell crit or AoE nodes. This build doesn't really work until 75+.

Why go for spell crit with a no crit build? Does it scale on minions?
