[2.6] cyclone based Mjolner

2.6 cyclone based Mjolner
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Videos of build in action (from 2.5 = less damage):

T14 Shaped Ow. Shrine, monster dmg, chain

T14 Shaped Reef, vulnerability, lmp, boss life, Beyond
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBJRn9zcw_Y

T13 Gorge, -max, 110% extra dgm as lightning, monster life, exiles
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPNW6vN7qN8

This build is:
-----------------------

+ Crit based with high Accuracy (90%+)
+ Low life with 30% more spell dmg bonus
+ Uses Elemental Equilibrium chain to proc -50% to enemy fire & lightning res before each Discharge
+ Uses quality Elemental Weakness via quality Blasphemy for additional 48% enemy elemental resistances reduction
+ Takes advantage of many spell dmg increases being low life

This all combined provides:
----------------------------------

+ 14.5k - 17.5k Discharge DPU @ 4/4 charges in tooltip (depending on gear lvl) with Life Leech gem
+ 98% monster elemental resistance reduction
+ 69% map Boss elemental resistance reduction

Basically build does double the tooltip dmg per each Discharge to 0% resistance target.
And 40% - 30% more DMG to map Bosses.

We are talking 29k - 35k per Discharge with packs and 19k - 24k per Discharge vs Bosses.

Passive skill tree:
-----------------------------

final lvl 94 tree

lvl 90 tree

lvl 87 tree

lvl 81 tree

Ascendancy class: Tricster
----------------------------------

Mainly because this is low life build that uses only movement skills. So it synergise well with Trickster that provides 0 mana cost for all build's skills, 20% attack speed when using movement skill (which is allways with this build) and theres large ammount of flat ES bonus on top of that (+250).

Ascendancy progression order: Walk the Aether, Shade Form, Swift Killer

Bandits:
----------------

Passive - Passive - Power Charge

Gear & Gems
-------------------

NOTE: The rare ring is very important. It must provide all ress, stats, str or dex or both (this way you'll save points on passive tree), and cold dmg to attacks for elemental equilibrium chain. If you cannot find/afford this kind of ring you can use Herald of Ice as your additional aura. Build has enough aura nodes to support that.

No wrath? No Anger? No HoT?
-------------------------------------

Yes. As they all provide much less DPS than elemental equilibrium. If any of them will be "on" elemental eq chain is broken as they will add light/fire dmg to your cyclone attacks.

Flask setup:
----------------------

Required jewels:
-----------------------

Jewel that converts Int to Str must be placed in the top Witch area.

Other type of jewels to look for:

And spell dmg. Especially spell dmg + spell dmg when holding a shield as you can have 25%+ spell dmg increase with one of those.

Info & comments:
----------------------------

Some additional comments on clear speed and builds dmg in 2.5:

Spoiler

So doing quick math: Lets take 15k Discharge DPU as average and than multiply by 2 times (double the tooltip due to the 98% elemental resistances reduction) and than x4 (max allowed Discharges per second) and we have 120k DPS to 0% resistance target with 4/4 charges.

However most of the time Discharge will go off with 3/3 charges (one power charge from cyclone hit, one from arc hit, one from last Discharge hit and 3 endurance charges gained by last Discharge power charges consumption). So this combined with added DPS from Arc (which is around 5k) means that real average dps to 0% resistance target is around 90k.

Build gains frenzy charges as well due to the Ascendancy node. Those provide more "fuel" for Discharge and are yet another "more" multiplier. However im not counting that in as this is not freqent enough to bother.

Vs 30% resistance map Boss build dishes out around 70k real dps. Vs most tanky map bosses that has 40% ele resistances build does around 65k real dps. Which is not bad, considering almost all T13-T15 map bosses has around 300k life pool. This means around 5s of constant dmg delivering to take them down.

There are exception ofcourse. Taking into account some map mods that grants additional life or additional ele resistances. In that situation overall kill time will be slower. Also missing your target from time to time either because of accuracy rating or poor play means actuall kill time will be longer.

This is not T1 build that has best clear speed. For that pick phys or ele crit Blade Flurry. This is Mjolner build that is fun to play and has enough punch to do regular map clearing fast and effective. This one is for mapping not Guardians/Shaper farming.

If you are a player that loved Mjolner before, you will have fun with this one here. Trust me.

Using Cyclone and Shield Charge with Haste aura and free skill spam (0 mana cost for movement skills with Trickster Ascendancy) provides great mobility for fast pacing gameplay.

High ES (over 8k ES without much of an issue) with Fortify, +7% to all max resistances from Puritys anb good leech even without Vinktars due to the life leech gem in Mjolner provides very good survivability.

Being low life with Blood Magic keystone and high leech with high resistances and large ES pool makes build any map mod viable. However "no leech" is pain in the ass as it requires tons of kiting.

Build doesnt require 6link or even 5link. Main attack is a 4 link. Rest is aura setups and movement skills.

Cons:
-------------

- Not Shaper viable
- requires high lvl for best performance (89+)
- taking down very tanky bosses on tanky map mods (boss life + monsters ele reistances ie.) takes time

Guardians & Uber Atziri:
---------------------------------

Depending on gear lvl.

Cyclone attack speed optimization
-----------------------------------------

Aim for anything between 3.7 and 3.95 APS. As this will nicely sync with new Mjolner trigger mechanics and its 250 ms.

Basically Cyclone hits twice per APS cycle. So with 4 Aps it hits 8 times, meaning each hit is seperated by 125 ms time window (1/8). So firts hit occuring at 0ms time point will trigger first spell with Mjolner putting it on 250 ms cooldown. Next hit at 125ms will trigger secound spell and put it on 250ms cooldown. So third hit occuring in this example at exactly 250ms will trigger first spell again as its cooldown just expires. Fourth hit occuring at 375ms will trigger secound spell again as 375-125 = 250 so its cooldown will be finished at this point. Now having slightly higher aps will break this as third hit will occur before spell finished its 250ms cooldown.

Having 3.7 - 3.95 aps is optimal with 2 spells socketed in Mjolner as every spell will be ready to be casted just before next cyclone hit.

Thanks Rico. I read all your Mjolner guides as I have always loved the play style. Too bad GGG went overboard with the nerfs, but I agree with you that it is still a very fun weapon. For the investment required, this should be a premier item and I hope GGG will make this a great top tier weapon once again. I am still using your first Juggernaut build actually (somewhat modified), and it's great so far even on T14 maps. I am sure it can do higher, but I am SSF player mainly so tier 15 maps don't rain from the sky. Tempted to try this build since I have a spare Shav's sitting around muhahaha.

Reserved
Why put so many efforts on it.

GGG is constantly trying kill mjolnir, as well coc and discharge skill.

Every single patch this things are being nerfed, they will keep going til its finally dead.

Why? dunno. Mjolnir is such a awesome item, together with cosprils, it opens a way to make awesome builds, not only discharge, but many other spells that is very fun to play.

Now, whyyyyyy kill it? I don't know. They isn't happen with melee being shit only, they need to make other skills shit as well.

But who cares, let's play Blade furry meta with 6kk dps right? ...
My end, it justifies my means,
All I ever do is delay,
My every attempt to evade,
The end of the road
And my end....

Hm hm hm. This one will be kinda tricky.

------------------------------------------------------

You can lvl as hybrid life / es using this kind of tree:

lvling tree

Than at lvl 74 (or a bit earlier) you can switch to this tree:

low life tree starter

-----------------------------------------------------------------

This should allow you to have all the auras and gear ready to be used. However make sure you're meeting str and int requirments. If u have clean Volls Devo that this wouldnt be a problem. Without it however you need decent ring / boots (you can skip Deaths Door boots if you have rares that provide better str or int and at least 20% movement speed).

Now how to lvl.

I would suggest going the old ways. So:

NOTE: Non-legacy Facebrakers will do as well.

Ring amu and boots to cap resistances. Jewels with % melee dmg / physical dmg / life / res. Dont use any weapon. Its unarmed facebraker build that will carry you on through the game from lvl 16 (facebrakers lvl req) to lvl 70-74 without much of an issue.

As your attack use:

Infernal Blow - Melee Splash - Melee Phys Dmg - Added Fire - Faster Attack - Multistrike

Simply add gems when you can (lvl requirments).

You can use one point to get Resolute Technique in the tree as well to have 100% hit chance.

At early lvls use CWDT + Warlords Mark, than switch to Warlords mark on blasphemy.

As other auras use Hatred.

If you found yourself having mana problems before using Warlords Mark use jewel with mana leech from physical dmg and with +2 mana gained on hit. Should be enough.

Now tree nodes picking order:

1) Blood Siphon (Shadow area)
2) Go up-right for Written in Blood
3) Go left-up trough Witch area, take all life nodes there (Heart and Soul, Cruel Prep) and Blast Radius
4) Go left-down for Purity of Flesh and Resolute Technique
5) Go bottom-middle for Hired Killer

Your tree @ lvl ~48 should look like this:

Facebraker lvling tree @ lvl ~48

Also you should do normal Lab asap and get Walk the Aether. Than you can spam Shield Charge for faster lvling / travelling.

From than just travel for Vaal Pakt and Aura nodes, make yourself close to Blood Magic keystone and take all the remaining stats / es / spell nodes before switching to low life Mjolner as listed above in lvl 74 tree.

Your goal here with Facebraker is Merciless Docks (act 3). You should hit those around lvl 63-65 if you dont rush it to much. So after that just farm a docks a bit to get your requirments for Mjolner gear.

With this build you will be one shotting everything up to act IV cruel. Than it will slown down a bit. However do not rush if you will found yourself 5 or more lvls bellow area lvl youre playing. If something like this happens, slow down a bit, kill some monsters. Allways kill blue packs and rares as they provide much experience. Also upgrade your life flasks whenever you can.

Hey I'm just wondering if this build would able to function without Voll's or if you had any advice to someone who couldn't obtain one? Hopefully something that isn't find another build that is.
Sorry. Volls Devo is mandatory, especially now after all nerfs.

It's sad how much people left mjolner altogheter, judging by the number of replies of this thread...
Anyway, nice guide, i'll try something similar

Just a question: numbers aside, how do you feel this build compared to the LL supertank and the life mjolner in the 2.4, rico? Are they so much underpowered that it's almost not worth it or it's still fun to play mjolner?
