[2.5] Cyclone Raider? Thoughts?

Big Credit to Lighty. I modified his tree a little bit to get more armor and even more importantly life leech. At the speeds this will hopefully be hitting can only imagine the leech numbers. Really wish i could get Vaal Pact... Might try. Maybe give up some life?

Anyway wondering if this is viable for a league starter? other than the ascendancy its not too different from all the other duelist cyclone builds. Slayer and Champion just have some really sweet nodes.



Vaal Pac version. Lost a little damage and life, gained instant leech.

I am also thinking of starting with Raider Cyclon build in new league.

It would be nice if someone could give his opinion on what0s better. Slayer or Raider?

Well, I will start by saying I'm not the best player but this build is maybe the best I've played since I started playing. Now mind you I generally avoid the super meta builds. But this is the first time I have ever gone deathless. Its a little hard to get going cause a lot of the gems you'll want for leveling aren't available to Rangers. Thankfully people are nice. Just slows down your leveling a little.

Also I modified the tree Lighty posted. I didn't like the numbers not matching more closely those of Slayer and Champion builds. Lighty put it nicely when he was saying if your cyclone build looks too different you're doing something wrong. It's really only a different start and trying to figure out what node get you close to Slayer. Really it's gonna boil down to how the Raider nodes do compaired to the others.

Personally I'm loving it. Got a blood magic gem going and almost got my leech going in the tree going. Only using a 4L and not even the most optimized (ran out of chroms) lol.

I wish I could say which is better but so far the fast playstyle is pretty rad. Can't wait to see it at full spin ;-P.

I'm playing cyclone raider for this league too. For me it's the first time that I have done my own build. Now I'm level 49 and everything is going OK so far. I died a couple of times because I suck, and breaches are more dangerous that I expected.

The diference between my build and yours is that I go hybrid evasion and armour. I don't know how this will work at late game.

I would love to get vaal pact too, but I think it's too much waste of skill points only for that keystone.

Problem with cyclone on raider is bound to lack of aoe nodes for it.

Clear speed will be very bad. Also there doesnt seem to be any good defences for raider apart of acro / evasion which we know is shit and will kill you.

I have not tried cyclone in 2.5 so I don't know how much the weapon range change will do. Nevertheless I would say that any build that has higher AoE is automatically the better build. From my experience the major downside of cyclone is the slow clear speed since you have to move between mobs, cyclone, chase stragglers, cyclone etc etc. Therefore I would say slayer all the way!

Ive never been appart of the uber clear speed meta so yea maybe compared to Discharge or BV and stuff that either has or will get nerfed, sure clear speed sucks. I think the clear speed is actually pretty good. once onslaught is up you just zip through everything. As far as AoE, yea with slayer you get that great passive but i havent really noticed a problem. is this build T1 epic awesomeness? No probly not and who can usually afford epic T1 gear anyway... I am having a blast with it.

Ive been wondering what it would be like dual wielding Dreamfeathers with this build. or maybe crafting some high damage foils as they have the same range as a 2h axe.

Just tried out these combined with Blood Rage. oh boy is that fun!
