1st character, first day in game, Hardcore! tips?

I recomend starting on the 2nd when the New league starts (the game is kinda built around them)

not to mention as a new player its great because everyone starts at lvl one and on equal footing

No wipes for Standard League or Hardcore League (permanent leagues). Some people really like wipes, for them, they play in the temporary leagues, and at the end, when the characters in temporary leagues are moved to permanent leagues, it is like a wipe for them.

The game developers typically try to entice players to play temporary leagues by adding new mechanics to the game for temporary leagues, and later deciding if it becomes added to the game permanently. So in order to experience the "full game" as soon as possible, you have to play in the temporary leagues.

There are just soooo many mechanics in this game that take a while to learn. I cant imagine playing hardcore when i first started... i just dont think it would be fun.

the way i see it, i'll make it halfway through the game, figure things out here and there, then something will blindside me and smash me to hell instantly. i'll remember what happened, do my research, and get back on the horse. i'll have to go through and make up all my progress again, but this time i'll remember all the things i did wrong, and all the near misses, and i'll do it better than before. the next time i die i'll repeat again and do it even better, until my playstyle is flawless. i know i can't learn the dungeons because they're random, but i can learn the enemies, what traps look like, best practices, how to clear and area without leaving myself open to dumbass mistakes. This makes it less about leveling up my character and more about leveling up *myself*. whoa. deep :-p.

ohgood! i'll stay patient though and stick with the permanent leagues for now. maybe one day when i die and i have to start a new character, and a new league is just starting, i'll pop in for a round or two, just for the experience.

My recommendation is to get familiar with the game over the next couple of days and start a new char in hardcore breach on Friday. Reason being the economy will be better in the fresh league and there will be more people to play with, especially when it comes to the hardcore version.

I mean, i'll probably die before Friday. hell, i might even die ON Friday, so it shouldn't be hard to just roll up my next character in the new league rather than the permanent one. i just don't want to abandon a character that's up and walking for some new one.

most of the time leagues are 3 months these days

if your guy is alive at the end they will throw him in perm hardcore, if u die in league they put u in the dumpster... sorry i mean standard
