DX11 2.5.0 release question
I'm unable to play the current version of the DX11 client because it requires DX11.1
My current windows 7 install is all kinds of borked when it comes to updating (cant install SP1, VC Redist complains on every install that it missed something.) Once 2.5.0 rolls out, will I be able to launch the game in 64 bit DX11 mode using win7 (no SP) and standard DX11 (not DX11.1), or will I require a clean install of windows to unfuck everything? Currently the game is about as playable as it has always been for someone with AMD graphics. No crashes though I get the AMD framedrops from 150fps down to <20, but that's fairly standard on AMD hardware VS POE it seems. PC Specs are: CPU: Xeon L5640 4GHZ (same chip as the Core i7 990x, no AVX instructions) RAM: 12GB DDR3 2000MHz GPU: Radeon R9 290 4GB storage: 240GB SSD OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 build 7600, no updates Last bumped on Nov 25, 2016, 9:07:43 AM

the whole point of dx11 is useing its full functionality, i doubt they`ll change that. If you want to use dx11.1 you`ll need a win8+ os
edit:also crimson amd drivers improve the fps a bit (just a bit tho) Last edited by vpetrovgb#0136 on Nov 25, 2016, 8:26:45 AM

Im sure final version will improve on this aswell, but i reccomend you switching to win 10 pro. And if you configure it properly it is the best windows so far + those extra things that come with win 10 and are annoying are easily deleted + some registry hacks and your windows works like a charm.
GGG thank you for all the great things you are doing. You have combined every element of all other great Rpg's and joined them together as one Diamond, that will shine Forever. This is coming straight from the heart <3 Last edited by Farystar#1705 on Nov 25, 2016, 8:26:10 AM

" you need the win10 enterprise edition to be able to fully deactivate the win telemetry (send all your input and data back to microsoft) service. makes sense, only companies are allowed to have secrets, others are watched. ---- the windows update components can be reset. while the manual procedure is quite complicated i think i did it once using a quickfix exe from microsoft. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill! " Unfortunately I don't have any copies of Win 10 lying around, and I missed my chance to upgrade my 8.0 and 8.1 copies to 10. Clean Install will have to be 7.1 pro, as I really don't want to use 8.1 (spent 6 months on it while studying IT and hated using the damn thing.) I tried 10 before it came out, and it was a damn sight better than 8.1, but it had some annoying quirks to it including mouse deceleration. from what I can gather, win10 doesn't like systems with hardware older then 2 or 3 years, and my CPU is late 2010 & motherboard 2009 or 2010. " I could have sworn there was 11.1 for windows 7, but I'm probably remembering wrong. Current AMD drivers are 16.8.2 Crimson. The game plays fine usually, but thins like Masters showing up can usually tank the framerate down to 20, which the game has been doing since the forsaken masters release. Most of the game performance got better with the latest performance patch with 2.4.2, but the game still shits the bed seemingly at random from some particle effects. edit: " you need the win10 enterprise edition to be able to fully deactivate the win telemetry (send all your input and data back to microsoft) service. makes sense, only companies are allowed to have secrets, others are watched. [/quote] I'm sure you'd be able to block Microsoft's outgoing IP addresses in a decent router. I tried adding them to windows own firewall when I tried win10, but it immediately caused windows to say it wasn't genuine. That was part of the reason I ditched it and went back to win 7 " I'm gonna bet that method wont work for me. I've had quick fixes fail spectacularly so many times before. Apparently using CCleaner on your registry can nuke some parts of it that windows uses. Others have had the same problem and trying to fix a 4 year old windows install would probably do more harm than good. I was hoping to wait till next year, after all the holidays n shit before I did a clean install of windows. Last edited by Arkanrais#5545 on Nov 25, 2016, 8:56:19 AM

i've been only partially right, the educational edition of win10 also allows you to run a wsus server and partially control what features microsoft wants to install. and to completely block the telemetry service as well as cortana.
found the threads. dx11.1 is only partially supported by win7 and i think it's still the most used os? --- if you can't install the win7 platform update i would recommend a clean reinstallation. it's less work now without microsoft permanently pushing their spyware upgrades. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
