[2.4] Ancestral Facebreaker

So here is another take on the Facebreaker Ancestral Warchief build type. I know there are a lot of those in here but whatever.

The focus of this build is on survivability, while still have descent DPS. The build uses Chieftain Ascendancy class, 3 Warchief totems and 2 curses.

Pros
- Very good for league starter
- Cheap to start
- Very easy and fast leveling
- Can do all map mods
- Fast clear speed
- Good survivability
- Viable for both hardcore and softcore

Cons
- Can be tricky with the resistances
- High end gear can be expensive

For leveling gear check the leveling part of the guide.

There are only 2 items that are required for this build:

And the best thing about them is that they are very cheap. Facebrekers i got for 12c, and Skirmish currently the cheapest ones go for 1alc.
What to look for:
Facebrekers - get as much % physical dps as you can
Skirmish - get the cheapest, the only thing that it gives to the build is the 3th totem

Witchfire Brew This flask is not 100% required but is highly recommended.
1. It gives nice defensive boost with 100% increased Evasion Rating
2. It boost your poison dps - (50-70)% increased Damage Over Time during Flask Effect
3. Gives you the second curse level 21 Vulnerability Curse Aura during Flask Effect. Which will boost your dps even fender with 30% increased Physical damage and 33% increased damage from Damage Over Time effects
Also its very cheap around 12-13c.

Additional gear

Meginord's Girdle This is the best belt for this build. It gives life, some cold res and most importantly flat physical damage. Currently it costs around 1c and you should get this as soon as possible because it will boost your early leveling dps significantly.
What to look for:
If you can get one with 20% cold res it will be perfect

Abyssus this is by far the biggest dps boost to the build. Currently you can get this for 10-15c
What to look for:
Get one with less increased Physical Damage taken.

Tabula Rasa This is your cheapest option. You can get one for about 10-12c. You should try to get this as soon as possible.

Holy Chainmail This is the second fairly cheap option that you can get when you start mapping. For 7 Emperor of Purity divination cards (currently around 3c each) you can get 6 linked version on this chest and then craft it to fit your needs. I used Essence of Horror (currently around 12-13c) to craft 15% of Physical Damage taken as Cold Damage witch will give you very good defensive boost when wearing Abyssus. Total round 35c. Just make sure u have caped your cold res.
Why not use Lightning Coil?
There are 2 problems with Lightning Coil:
1. Its not that cheap to get 6 linked version of it, you will need about 5-6ex.
2. Like i mentioned the resistances for this build are a bit tricky to max out so -60 to lightning res is very big problem.

Cospri's Will Now this is where things start to get expensive. The Chainmail will serve you very well up until late end game (>= T14 Maps). But in order to tackle the hardest content you will need Cospri's Will to boost your defenses. The cheapest version of this chest will cost you around 2ex and you can fairly easy 5 link it. Losing 1 socket here is relay not a big problem, because it gives you the ability to poison cursed enemies. So 5 links here are the same as 6 links on the other 2 options. It also gives you nice defense boost with the additional 1200 evasion and the most important part you can apply 2 curses at once. Also if you manage to get a 6 linked version of it it will give a very good dps boost. Check the gems part of the guide for additional info.

Boots
For boots high evasion or armor, the build uses Iron Reflexes to convert all evasion into armor. You will need as much resistances as possible, life and movement speed (if possible).

Amulet
From the amulet there are couple very important things you need:
1. Flat physical dps, more is better
2. Resistances
3. Dexterity, at least 50 - Cospri's Will requires 183Dex and the amulet is your best bet to get a lot.
4. Life if possible

Rings
Same as the Amulet
1. Flat physical dps
2. Resistances
3. Life if posible
Now if you have 10-20ex you want to spend for no reason, you can buy your self 2 nice Steel Rings. They will give you very nice dps boost. Or you can buy normal Steel Rings (currently around 20c) and try to craft them yourself with Deafening Essence of Contempt (currently around 6-10c). So far i have spend ~2ex trying with no luck, so not sure if it's worth it.

Jowels

Martial Artistry if you can get one with 15% great
Other than that:
1. Resistances
2. Increased Totem Damage / Increased Physical Damage / Increased Area Damage / Increased Attack Speed / Increased Melee Damage / Increased Damage
3. Increased maximum Life

Flasks

Atziri's Promise Gives good dps boost
Sulphur Flask dps boost and Consecrated Ground will boosts your life regen
Jade Flask It will give you additional physical damage reduction (Iron Reflexes).
Additionally you will need 1 mana flask for 60% less or no mana regen maps
Flask modifiers:
(30 to 40)% increased Duration
90+% increased Armour during Flask effect
90+% increased Evasion Rating during Flask effect
(20 to 30)% increased Movement Speed during Flask effect
Whatever Immunities you need, Freeze and Bleed are going to be most problematic

My current gear

Ancestral Warchief setup:

Ancestral Warchief - Melee Physical Damage - Added Fire Damage - Faster Attacks - Increased Area of Effect - Culling Strike

Before you get Cospri's Will use Poison instead of Culling Strike. And for harder bosses swap Increased Area of Effect for Concentrated Effect

Auras:

Grace

Blasphemy - Temporal Chains

Before you get Cospri's Will use Herald of Ash instead of Temporal Chains. And if you want to live dangerously you can swap Grace for Hatred for nice dps boost.

Utility setup:

Cast when Damage Taken - Immortal Call - Vortex - Increased Duration

Keep Cast when Damage Taken on level 1 so it triggers as often as possible.

Movement setup:

Lightning Warp - Less Duration - Faster Casting

For the last 2 sockets there are multiple options:

Vaal Haste / Vaal Grace - Increased Duration

2x Vaal Haste

Cast when Damage Taken - Chaos Golem / Stone Golem / Flame Golem

Currently i use Cast when Damage Taken (level 13) with Flame Golem (level 15). It gives one more thing for monsters to hit and some dps

Couple of leveling items that will make your life a lot easier:

Elreon jewelry you can find very cheap ones, look for something similar.

Goldrim will help you with resistances. I wore this up until i put the Abyssus

Tabula Rasa is your cheapest option for 6 link and you can wear it from level 1. Use this up until you can get the Holy Chainmail

Like I mentioned above this build is very easy to level up. Until level 16 play however you like, at level 16 put on Facebreaker and Meginord's Girdle this will be your main dps setup on normal and most of cruel. At this point use Ancestral Protector - Melee Splash and whatever additional gems you like. At level 28 start using Ancestral Warchief. When you get Tireless and Quick Recovery you can ditch the Elreon jewelry you should be able to support the mana cost at this point and get jewelry with flat physical and whatever resistances you need. Don't put Abyssus until you get the Holy Chainmail, you will start dying a lot without it.
About ascendancy you can get normal and cruel as soon as you get to act 3. And for merciless and uber wait until you get the Holy Chainmail.

Bumping up for the new league
What changed with this build in [2.6]?
Still playable or not now ?
