[2.4] Raven's Trypanon Raider Earthquake, 11 Frenzy, 100% ms

INTRODUCTION

Hello everyone, I am Raven and this is my Trypanon Raider build!

The idea behind the build was to make a build using trypanon that doesn't use cast on crit.

To do that, out of many option, I chose to focus on flat elemental damage from essence of horror rolled rings.

Using them on the raider class together with a +1 frenzy marylene's fallacy and +1 frenzy darkray vectors, I could get a lot of frenzy charges, attack speed and flat cold which help tremendously on a trypanon build.

However, that idea failed because I couldn't roll any great rings.
Instead, I am now just using regular rings with flat elemental damage and wrath, herald of thunder scaling mostly lightning damage.

The attack of choice was between earthquake and cyclone, but earthquake came out the winner, mostly because of its much more sustainable mana cost.

OVERVIEW

Pros:

+ 100% increased ms with frenzy charges
+ 11 frenzy charges with proper gear
+ Really high attack speed for a trypanon build.
+ 75% Dodge, 50% spell dodge with quartz flask
+ Because of high attack speed and dodge, no need of stun avoidance/immunity like other trypanon builds.
+ Aura supports scale the build greatly with their added elemental damage and enabling the use of Mantra Of Flames jewel
+ No care about shocking/burning/chilling ground or vessel of vinktar shock
+ Vaal pact and large amounts of leech make it hard to die while hitting
+ Vaal lightning strike can obliterate bosses
+ Always crit!
+ Weird drill hammer.

Cons:

- Can be very slow when out of frenzy charges
- Hitting a wall/short object with eq causing it not to connect can lead to death
- Can't really do long boss fights like shaper, guardians, atziri.
- Gear may be expensive

SKILL TREE

Raider

Ascendancy Points:

Normal: Way of the Poacher
Cruel: Avatar of the Slaughter
Merc: Quartz Infusion
Uber: Avatar of the Veil

There is a lot of synergy with the ascendancy class and our build:
The attack speed gained from raider is greater than any other other ascendancy.
Avatar of the veil let's us use vessel of vinktar without worrying about using a grounding flask.
The movement speed bonuses together with darkray vectors get us running extremely fast.
Easy to get dodge capped and 50% spell dodge.

I chose not to go the onslaught route because it seemed too hard to maintain constantly and the offensive bonuses not really worth it. However with a silver flask and for clear speed purposes it could be a viable alternative to avatar of the veil.

Bandits:

Normal: Oak
Cruel: Kraityn
Merc: Kraityn

LEVELING TIPS AND TREES

I levelled as a bow build using doomfletch and later doomfletch's prism and added flat physical damage gear. It is a very strong way to level. Switch to trypanon when you feel ready/have the gear. Stay away from the crit multiplier nodes until you are actually using trypanon.
If levelling as a bow build, I recommend getting the jewel sockets near raider and socketing them with a Static Electricity unique jewel.

SKILL TREE EXPLANATION

The skill tree mainly focuses on defenses and critical offense nodes where we can get them.
Arcing Blows and Force of nature work great with our build, both as potent inc. damage% nodes and because of the very high penetration.
Vaal pact is needed to stay alive. The duelist leech nodes are great for getting generic attack damage leech.
Acrobatics and phase acrobatics are recommended because of the ease at which our build can stack dodge chance due to Darkray Vectors and the Raider Ascendancy.

Consider speccing into +30 int/str nodes as needed to be able to use your gear.

JEWELS

Unique Jewels:

Great in the ranger jewel nodes, adding 1-72 flat lightning damage each.

Can be used in the right ranger socket, good for fast mapping, but mostly a fun choice. Can be very fun.

Consider this if you are running with something like a guardian support because it adds huge amounts of flat elemental damage.

Other than that, use rare jewels that have some combination of:
1)Life
2)Melee critical multiplier, global critical multiplier, multiplier with two handed weapons
3)Attributes you are missing on your gear
4)Resists you are missing
5)Increased elemental damage of the type you are focusing on.

GEAR

GEAR EXPLANATION

Spoiler
Weapon

Obviously we need to use a Trypanon for a Trypanon build. They actually have no rolls... So yeah, get one.

Helm

Try to get that enchantment as the attack speed can get so high that just less duration can't keep up

Chest

I chose to use Carcass Jack for the extra area of effect clear speed and also because I was lucky and 6linked one. Alternatively the build could use a kaom's heart (forgoing the vaal lightning strike single target setup),a rare chest, or anything else you might think of.

Gloves

You want life, as much flat elemental damage as you can get, accuracy and resists on your gloves. That can be hard, but the gloves flat ele rolls are not great so you can settle here with something subpar.
Facebreaker can also be used, but you miss on valuable resists and life.
For an enchantment, you want one that scales with your attacks, like commandment of fury. Sadly I don't have one of these.

Boots

These are probably BiS for this build, especially if you can get good Essence of Horror rings.

Amulet

This is definetely BiS for this build, unless you can get a completely insane rare amulet I do not even dare dream of.
A ton of crit multi, culling strike and most importantly, light radius.
Corruption for +1 frenzy is great but the +30 int of a clean one can help with attribute requirements.

Rings

You need flat ele damage, in my case mostly lightning, life, resists and any attributes you might need. These are not really optimal.

Belt

Currently using this for the strength which I needed at a point, but something like this is what you want.
If you can really afford it, the corruption for inc. aoe radius would be nice as we don't get any aoe on the tree.

Flasks

The quicksilver flask is used for when we are out of charges and very slow + when we want to go really really fast.
A quartz flask is good to get phasing at will when out of charges and it also clear all status ailments and dodge caps us.
An instant life flask is recommended for those hard moments when something goes wrong.
Vessel of Vinktar is great for this build, especially the flat ele version. The life leech is great, the added ele is great, the shock is great. It doesn't even shock us because of avatar of the veil. But it can be very costly so invest on it last, it's not required by any means.
Atziri's promise is generally good, but I am uncertain about it for this build. A second vessel of vinktar with lightning pen would probably be optimal.

LINKS AND GEMS

All gems can be found on the following link
Gem links

Main DPS Setup

Earthquake>Less Duration>Weapon Elemental Damage>Added Lightning>Lightning penetration>Increased Area of Effect (can swap with concentrated effect for bosses)

Less duration for earthquake is pretty much a necessity.
WED is a great more multiplier
Added Lightning is needed for the flat damage
Lightning penetration is used in my particular setup because I somehow ended up scaling mostly lightning damage. It can be swapped with something like added cold in other iterations of the build.
Increased area of effect is great for clearing faster.

Single Target Setup

Vaal Lightning Strike>WED>Light Pen>Multistrike>Added Lightning>Life leech(or something like added cold/crit multi/increased duration)

Vaal lightning strike does a ton of damage to bosses and it keeps hitting and leeching life.Multistrike is used to apply it 3 times.
Attack speed doesn't matter from what I could tell, it just hits every 0.8 second. Try to get a quality one, they are pretty cheap.
Links on this are pretty much in flux, the main thing you want is VLS, multistrike and WED. After that, let your creativity work and possibly your spreadsheets.

Mobility Setup

Flame dash completely unlinked is used to get over cliffs, as we generally move very fast if we have frenzy charges

Aura/Curse Setup

Wrath
Herald Of Thunder>Curse on Hit>Warlord's Mark

Wrath and HoT give us much needed flat elemental damage. As we always crit and thus shock, herald of thunder is pretty much always procced so we can use it to curse.
I chose warlord's mark for the extra survivability lately, but I have also used poacher's mark in the past as an alternative to blood rage and to help with mana issues.
A case can be made for assassin's mark and elemental weakness and you are free to try them.

Golem/Buffs

Lightning golem seems good for the build, both for the attack speed as well as the flat lightning damage buff. I have him on a cw stunned link but I rarely see him, so feel free to experiment with stuff like cwdt or self casting it.
Blood rage is also used for the attack speed buff and frenzy charge generation. Generally after you get going on 11 charges, ascendancy is enough to keep you going, but blood rage is barely noticeable when you leech on each pack.

Miscellaneous

I also use portal because it's cool and vengeance because why not.

CONCLUSIONS

Thanks for reading my guide. As this is my first guide, I am sure there is a lot to improve upon. Feel free to leave your comments below and I'll be sure to reply and improve the guide.

As for the build itself, it might not be the greatest build for every purpose but it is certainly unique and very fun to play. The details are not completely ironed out and there is a lot of potential with better gear, gem and tree optimizations.
