Hey guys, quick question, is there a rule on playing the market and making currencies of it?
The guy is asking about official, GGG-sanctioned trading rules, not eveyone's personal set of rules.
At OP: until recently there were practically no rules for anything, including outright scamming. Then a league arrived (Perandus) where the specific league's mechanics made scamming easy and profitable and therefore it became so widespread that GGG banned a few people for persistent scamming. There was a serious discussion in the forum if GGG should have banned these people because up until then GGG's policy was 'anything goes' to simulate a harsh and unforgiving environment, just like the game's lore. These bans were a distinct change of GGG's policy and it suddenly became much more unclear than before what you can and cannot do in the game world. At the current moment, the unwritten rule seems to be 'don't scam too much people because GGG might ban you if enough people complain'. Flipping and any sort of market manipulation outside of an outright scam, on the other hand, are actively encouraged. What's more, the economy is predicated on the existence of flippers and wouldn't even function without them. This should tell you something: there are a lot of sharks in the water and not that many fish. Flipping isn't as easy as you might think, so proceed at your own peril. It's not impossible but it requires significant in-game knowledge, keeping the market under close and constant scrutiny and it's generally quite a lot of work. Of course, there are some players who get filthy rich each league just by trading - but they aren't as many as you would think and the market can bear only so much flippers before it becomes unprofitable for the majority. You have to be realistic about these things. Logen Ninefingers Last edited by Bars#2689 on Oct 6, 2016, 10:52:36 AM

" I really would have no idea how to make cash without that?! good uniques are only made/found by the 0.01% players (best unique found in 2 years is Tabula Rasa). Vendor recipies goes way to slow and further?? there is basically nothing (you can hope for an EX or mirror drop but never seen that in 2 years so i wouldnt bet on that 1 to much :)......so go flip and play the game how it is ment to be played (Path of Markets = GGG). |

" Let me guess, you aren't trying to sell many expensive items? Otherwise you would maybe think otherwise. Flipperboy 1, oh hi, gimme item 20% of your min current market price Flipperboy 2, hey you sure want to have that item to do build x for yours poor soul, hi, no trade massage, i offer you gumcurrency at around 25% of your market value and so on If at least flipperboys would make different accounts so you couldn't identify them so easy. |

" Basically yeah. People who are butthurt about the fact that they weren't clever enough to do it first. I mean, Mors did it all first, but you know... that they didn't do it second, after Mors did it. U MAD?

"Not all of us are salty because you are 'making money' it's more that you are not selling your listed poorjoy's at 16c each. I will say I've seen more 18c-19c listings today than last night. |

" Yes, lots of fishermen, not so many fish in the sea. Players who have expensive items typically aren't eager to part with them at a bad price. Furthermore, if they want to buy an item you placed at a cheap but decent price and try to sell it higher, flippers are more than welcome to do so. I regard this as a service: I'm unwilling to wait and I'm OK with getting a bit less currency for an item; they are willing to wait and possibly sell it for more later. About myself, I've been playing in EHC this league and it is a ghost town. Had one of only a few 6-link shavs on the market, it was the only one online at certain points, price completely reasonable, and sold it in 3 days, only getting one message from a guy trying to haggle in all that time. The market turnover is so low, I'm not even sure it's possible to flip. You might very well get a great deal and have to wait a week to resell it at profit. Nevertheless, I played in Prophecy SC and while there were indeed many lowballers, I don't think it's so easy to get rich flipping. I've tried my hand at it, mostly for science, and it can be profitable if you know what you're doing - but it'also a lot of work. It's not a magical, no-effort, no-time method to get rich and it's riskier than just straight-out farming unless you're some kind of market guru. You have to be realistic about these things. " I don't have that much of an issue with flippers and price manipulators, they are obvious for the most part. I do have an issue with people taking up arms when players try to warn each other of said issues. " You couldn't be more wrong... |
