The Jewellers Touch. Not a 5-link

I had the Prophecy 'The Jeweller's Touch' which would give me a 5-link on the next use of a Jewellers Orb.
Happy as a I was I bought my endgame item and used it on it to have a 5-link ready when I got there. But upon using it I got a 2-link on body armor and not a 5-link.
When I went to check with the Prophecy guy which Prophecy's I had I immediatly got a new Prophecy (don't know if it consumed a Silver Coin).

Did you happen to acquire the prophecy at the same time that you tried to use it?

I have never had one, but it was noted in Prophecy league and on the wiki that you need to change zones after acquiring it, before applying it to an item, in order for it to take effect.

Might be worth applying another jeweller's orb to that same item before anything else (after switching zones). [Keeping in mind the risk that it tries to 6-socket your armour and fails, making it worse, should the prophecy not still be active.]

What was the item level of the chest armour you used it on? Was the Prophecy consumed when you used the jeweler?

I changed zones. I got the Prophecy yesterday, bought the item today and used it today.

I was level 60. The item is level 65.
The Prophecy was consumed.

Wait so you're saying when you clicked Navali's "See Current Prophecies" option, it instead gave you a new Prophecy? You sure you didn't misclick and "Seek Prophecy" or whatever the wording is? When you press the key to open the Achievements/Challenges/Prophecies screen, The Jeweller's Touch is no longer on your Prophecy screen?

Did you buy The Jeweller's Touch as a sealed Prophecy from another player, or did you get it from Navali?

I might have clicked Seek Prophecy, good point.
I got the prophecy when I was in A1 Merciless. I don't do Prophecy's before that. I also used the Jeweller's Orb in Merciless if it's relevant.

Dis the armour by any chance have 5 or 6 sockets when you used the orb on it?

The armor had 2 linked blue sockets and 1 unlinked blue sockets. After using a Jeweller's Orb it had 2 linked blue sockets.

Sometimes my finger spasms and I accidentally double click on stuff (should really lower the sensitivity of my mouse buttons). Perhaps this happened to you? With just a touch of lag it can pretty much unnoticeable sometimes.

How does a double click matter? I select a Jeweller's Orb, click to select and click on the item. Even tapping 100 times will only do it once unless you also hold Shift, which I didn't.
