Question regarding blade vortex build

While I see a lot of BV builds with daggers and shields, when I go to check out their tree, they usually skip nodes like (increased x% physical damage with daggers, increased critical strike chance with daggers), is there some reason why this is so that I'm not seeing?

Really want to go into this build and join the rat race, see what all the commotion is about, as well get some good end game loot for any other build I later pursue.

Also, if those nodes don't apply to blade vortex, then what about nodes for shields like Precise Interception (15% increased physical attack damage while holding a shield, 60% increased defences from equipped shield, 3% additional chance to block with shields). Do any parts of this node work when using BV?

The wording in the game is precise. You'll learn what the different wording means. But when it says "with daggers", it's referring to attacks made with the daggers. Blade Vortex is a spell, not an attack. So those nodes don't help it. The shield nodes you mention say "attacks", so those also won't help a spell. You have the "physical" part right though. Look for nodes that just say "physical damage" without limiting it to attacks. The defense and block parts of the shield nodes work as long as you have a shield. They don't care what skills you use.

Edit: blade cortex is a spell. So spell damage nodes do help it.
