Increased duration is used to kill bosses and tough enemies. Duration on firestorm acts as a "More multiplier". The base duration for firestorm is 2 seconds, with 20/20 increased duration, the skill lasts 3.48 seconds which means we get 1.48 seconds extra, to stack firestorms on top of eachother.

Yes, without increased duration, we get a higher average damage, but our damage overall, will be reduced by a huge margin.

I tested this with the firestorm dps calculator. I used my damage numbers with both gems. My sustained casting DPS is 63,861 (without fire pen). If i remove Increased duration and use iron will, my sustained casting DPS is 42,574.

Hardest content i have done in previous leagues was Uber atziri, with a slightly modified build. This version should be able to do Atziri easily. Havn't tested Atziri on EHC, but the build has only gotten stronger since i started using it, a few years back. I did a few tier 14 maps easily on HC with my test character. Didn't have any higher tier maps though

The build looks like fun, but I'm still trying to figure out your defenses for HC. The price of Kaom's chest are pretty expensive right now, so that's out of the question... Is CWDT with IC enough by itself? How about decoy totem or even regular skele totem over Vaal skeles? Any thoughts on running a non-BM build, thereby enabling some auras to be reserved (blashpemy/enfeeble for example)?

I thought about using life leech, but we already have fire based life leech from our ascendancy class. We leech a tonne when we use firestorm, and we are sure to reach the life leech limit while fighting a group of enemies. On another note, our golem doesn't do much damage, and wouldn't get the full potential of life leech in the first place. The only benefit i can see from having life leech on our molten shell setup, would be against single target but our golem helps with that as well.

On a personal note, i would want my golem to stay alive as long as possible. Chaos golem is melee based, and is very often targeted by bosses. Minion life makes the distraction last a few seconds longer. Usually long enough for me to kill the boss, without taking a single hit.

Boots there are quite a few choices for damage and for defense:
- increased Attack and Cast Speed if you've Killed Recently
- increased Critical Strike Chance if you haven't Crit Recently (only used to proc Elemental Overload more reliably)
- Regenerate x% of Life and Mana per second if you were Hit Recently
- x% increased Movement Speed if you haven't been Hit Recently

All of these are excellent and would be very valuable in their own way. Personally, i would go with regen. With 10k hp and top enchant, it would end up being more than 200 life/second.

Helmet: You could go for chaos golem elemental resistances, to free up minion life :D Firestorm damage would be ideal though.

Gloves: ... Of Spite (Drops ice on the ground when hit).
