The best "starting gem class build"

I wanna see how you guys feel about the beach gems as a locked build.
Let's vote what class is the best to start with, in a "purist" type of way.
The ground rules are that your single and aoe dps must be your starting gem, forever.

You can use any mobility gems you want, but only for mobility,
so no mirror clone trap or leap slam builds allowed for example.
In case you forgot, here are the gems:

Marauder - Heavy strike
Templar - Glacial hammer
Witch - Fireball
Shadow - Viper strike
Ranger - Burning arrow
Duelist - Double strike
Scion - Spectral throw

Class + gem locked together.

Spectral Throw is the best, but Scion ascendecy sucks, so after ascendecy Fireball Elementalist would be better.

Glacial Hammer is pretty damn good.

For sure, Viper Strike can get to level 65 with just a 4 link, with claws. Quickly.

Fireball :) works better with crappy gear, capable of AoE Overlapping on single target using slower projectiles + rolling flames (you have to distance yourself just right so they explode right at boss) and your pretty much reflect immune thanks to elementalist. Also lightning warp (for master mind of discord + traveling) adds alot of swag to your caster, since everybody else goes for whirling blades.

Edit: it's been awhile since I used fireball, just tried it with SP again it always explodes 2 screens away regardless of proj spd, but my vote here would still go to fireball.

Viper Strike used to be such an interesting skill.. :(

Probably Fireball for this. Strong on its own and versatile build options with various uniques.

I did this with Mara to roughly 70.
Fireball would be next first choice for me.

Fireball for me. If having fun is a criterion, I had the most fun with my fireballer a couple of leagues ago.
