The game is not intuitive but the fight is not impossible either. Add a Forsaken Masters questline

" You can heal the rain in Normal and Cruel, so yeah, not my fault the developers made a stupid mechanic that is pointless and then suddenly they decide you have to use it... like yeah im a fucking psychic, i know what they are fucking thinking i can connect to their minds and say "oh yeah they intended this to work this way", fuck no. Haven't died to Merciless Dominus since Act 4 came out, then again I never had a reason to fight him on anyone other than my 2k HP MFer. lol those were fun times. He's really a joke when you understand the mechanics listed a hundred times already. GL in you future attempts.

His blood rain is his only dangerous attack. Once you realize you can just stand in the gold ring and it doesn't hit you then his second form becomes a total joke to any build with even remotely competent damage. I remember face-tanking him with a half-geared witch who couldn't have had over 2000 hitpoints.
