The game is windows only though there are ways to get it to run on other OS's they are not officially supported, you would need to check for the unofficial guide

Aura0000,
Windows is an Operating System, like MacOS (formerly known as OS X). Google Chrome is an internet browser, not an Operating System. |

However, Google Chrome runs on a Windows simulation of the Apple OSx -- Thus, in effect I'm running the Apple in Windows mode. Google Chrome is not running and cannot run on the native OSx of the Apple.
I'm borrowing someone's computer (an Apple) until I get mine. Another Question: If I link my account to Steam, is it lost to Steam? Can I continue playing a character or do I have to start new characters only? I can also copy entire directories from a PC to this Apple. Is there a program for an Apple that allows it to run Windows games as opposed to just browsers? I expect YouTube and all of those programs are Windows only also. Thoughts? Aura0000,
Chrome can run on the native Mac Operating System; https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95346 If you're running Windows in Boot Camp, then yes, you can use all Windows-compatible software including Path of Exile. There's both a Steam client and a standalone client available. |

Ah, you edited your post to ask more questions.
You can ask GGG staff to unlink your account from Steam if you want. You can continue to play on the same characters. |

Ah ha as I'm fairly new to this Apple, how do I run the PoE installer in "Boot Camp" as I do not even know what that is. lol
My wish would be to try the stand alone client first before going to Steam as I will be getting a proper computer again in the next few weeks. Moving problems: lol "Share information to increase knowledge."
