Muted for no reason

I'm not sure exactly where to post this, but this seems to be the most appropriate section of the forum.

I was muted by a global moderator today for typing in global chat that I had engaged in 'RMT' (I believe the term is for trading in-game items for real world currency) in another game in the past.

A few minutes later I recieved a 1-day muting.

I tried engaging with the global moderator whose message informed me of the mute, without recieving a response.

Is this an automatic thing?

Is it based on what I typed or did someone have to report me first?

Or did someone manually ban me after reading what I typed?

This is clearly an error in the system, as I had made no reference to PoE, but was referring to a different game system.

Who do I need to contact in order to rectify this situation?

Saying anything RMT related is a bad idea in this game, whether or not it's related to POE. GGG has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to anything RMT related. Whether you think it's just or not, that's probably why you got muted. It's not an automated thing and someone could have reported you, who knows and they more than likely wouldn't tell you either way.

At this point, just take the mute. You could email support, but they are very busy and probably wouldn't get to your email until after your mute time is up.

E: And just generally speaking, GGG will not do anything account related via the forums as a rule for security reason.

The reason for the mute I got was that I had engaged in RMT.

Which is clearly untrue and the logs will verify it.

I could take legal action based on that evidence alone.

So you RMTed in another game in the past? Honestly depends what you said and what was reported, the mods are there probably just uber busy since they are the same support team.

But from what I've seen they're pretty heavy on the RMT thing, if you were bragging about what you've done in the past its probably why you got muted.

I RMTed in another game in the past.

Are you suggesting that my being muted may have been the result of human error by the moderator who muted me?

Ahh yes, the good old "I'm mad and I could sue defense". I love that one.

From the TOS (Section 16) which you agreed to:
"
To the greatest extent permitted by law, Grinding Gear Games also reserves the right, acting at its sole discretion, at any time to cancel your registration and access to your Member Account or to restrict, limit or otherwise change your existing rights of access to your Member Account, or any specific feature or benefit afforded to you in relation to your Member Account, including without limitation in respect of any Virtual Items, if it believes you have breached these Terms of Use or any other agreements you may have with Grinding Gear Games or for any other reason whatsoever. In such event you agree that Grinding Gear Games will not be required to provide you with prior notice or explanation in respect of such action.

Like I said, it doesn't matter what you think. It matters what GGG thinks. They don't have to give you any explanation at all. They muted you at their sole discretion which is well within their rights to do, deal with it. I gave you a possible way to rectify the situation. Take advantage of it or not, I really don't care. They aren't going to do anything via the forums and complaining here isn't going to solve anything.

You didn't answer my question.

Do you agree that my being muted has no basis in reason or law and is the result of human error?

If you disagree, please provide your reasoning.

Appeals to what rights you imagine I may have signed away legally in order to access the game content are irrelevant.

On what principle of reason are you apologising on behalf of GGG for muting me?

You don't get muted for RMT, you get banned. If you didn't get banned, GGG is not accusing you of RMT. You get muted for saying something that isn't supposed to be said.

I already stated the reason given for my muting (engaging in RMT), as evidenced in the logs.

Can you direct me to the part of the agreement listing the things that aren't supposed to be said?

It is not directly in the Agreement for ToS but the ToS does give a blanket answer that your account and actions are under GGG's sole discretion and scrutiny. If they so chose they could flat out ban you without a reason. They won't because what kind of business model is that, but RMT isn't usually a legal activity in games and GGG despises RMT since it would devalue their game. You were saying you RMT'd in another game which to them is essentially endorsing the activity, even if you didn't intend to do so with PoE.
