So how long is the main game and what should I expect from end game content?
Big Diablo fan here. I started playing this game a long time ago. I'm just now getting back into it. Just wondering if this game can keep me coming back after I beat it?

" Only you can answer that question honestly. I feel like you know that though. Good luck mate. Making all kinds of gains. |

Main game is ~20 hours give or take your speed and gear. For the latter I agree with the above poster...you know why you're here :P

End game is to reroll characters until you get them right.

I'll take a whack at this.
You never really beat this game since it takes a long long time to get perfect gear if that is even possible. And, what determines beating? That is a personal thing. Anyway, if I may give you some good suggestions. #1 is figure out your preferred play style, maybe by looking at some youtube videos. Archer? Mage? Melee? AOE centric? etc. There are lots of ways to play and also lots of ways to get visual satisfaction. You might like the look of fire, cold, lightning? I wouldn't worry a whole lot about Meta builds, find what you enjoy playing because you are going to be grinding a lot. I would also recommend following a popular build on the forums the first playthrough (at least). That way you will concentrate on the play style and learn the game mechanics rather than having to worry about gearing options, skill point allocation etc. I play D3 also, and this game is IMHO more about the acquisition of the perfect gear. Both are relatively similar IMHO but the gearing is faster in D3. Keep that in mind - if you don't like the grind haul this game may be frustrating for you. |

You beat the main game in a few solid afternoons. Then you grind until the end of time. Or at least until you, like me, reach a point where you just can't tolerate the grind anymore and go on a year long hiatus. Speaking of which, I'm going back to PSO2 for awhile.

If you liked D2 -- you should be fine with PoE .... same hunt for item-upgrades... grindy... but with way more possibilities to grind than just running Baal over over again.. :)

every 3-4 months ther e is big patch so it make a lot of people to come back to game and try new content.
Endgame is running different maps wit hdifferent monsters with different map mods or farming one of endgame bosses: aziri, shaper, uber lab "Is there such a thing as an absolute, timeless enemy? There is no such thing, and never has been. And the reason is that our enemies are human beings like us. They can only be our enemies in relative terms." Where does this 'beating the game' come from? You can't beat Path of Exile ... Sadly tons of people stop playing after they killed Malachai or whatever the last boss of a playthrough is at that time.
If you're a Diablo 2 fan you should know you can't beat that game either? You can't beat ARPG's, you play them. This patch I think the endgame has improved, at least it's now less abstract, it's a step in the right direction. |
