Two-toned Boots are broken. Can't get some mods
I've been crafting some of these new boots with chaos orbs.

I'm pointing out that these boots can't possibly roll a lot of mods that they should be able to roll... namely +%armour/evasion/energyshield.

I'll tell you one thing. I've seen some people claiming GG boots on reddit and they post a pic of their crafted two-toned or whatever boots and the first thought I had was "I wouldn't use that shit ever".
If the claim to GG is tri-res with extra res as an implicit it's an awful one. The first stat I look on builds that are ES based is ES. I can get res anywhere but I am limited to where i can get ES. I personally would never use these new boots simply because 38 base energy shield will never be enough for what I need. Personally I think the new boot bases are fucking awful simply because the other stats on the boots are complete ass. Low eva, low armor, low es...like I can't find a reason to EVER use these boots. I would especially never use them because their shining selling point is "12 lightning and cold res" which I can almost get on a well rolled jewel. The only new base I am even interested in is that new ES belt. I really want to get my hands on that...everything else? not really. |

" Not everybody is playing a build that stacks ES as high as possible. That's probably the rarest form of defense by a fair margin, simply because it's the most expensive to acquire and difficult to use. For every other build, the defensive stats on your boots are practically irrelevant. GG boots for the majority of builds have 30% movement speed, high life, and a ton of resists. That's all they need. The fact that you consider these boots shit purely because they lack high ES is absurd. Assuming their inability to roll defensive stats is intentional and won't be changed, they're the best boot base for crafting by a huge margin. |

They've said it's a bug. Can't remember if I read it here somewhere or on reddit, but it was a dev response.
Edit: Guess I read about the problem on new base type gloves: https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/516yc8/bug_fingerless_silk_gloves_doesnt_seem_to_be_able/? So hopefully the fix includes all the other new base types. Tbh I wouldn't mind if it stayed that way, even if it is bugged. Armor/ev/es mods are way way less relevant for boots than they are for other pieces of gear, in part because there's other more important prefixes to get for boots (movespeed, mostly) and in part because the base armor/ev/es on gloves and boots is low, so even with good mods they're a fairly low portion of your defenses compared to armor/helm/shield and auras. Not being able to roll those mods just means better odds of rolling the generally-most-important prefixes (movespeed and life).
