Where do you get Shaper's Orbs?

The Atlas said that Oba's Cursed Trove would have a Shaper's Orb, so I ran the map and at the end nothing happened. I ran through the whole thing again after checking my loot filter, and still didn't find anything. Am I just an idiot or is it bugged? This was in standard, from a map from 2.3 if it matters.

It's only a chance that it will drop.

It should drop 100% assuming you did the new version and not legacy version. Why would it be rng?

Shaper's Orbs are sometimes awarded for completing a map; upgrades a map which allows "Shaped" maps to drop which are 5 tiers higher then their regular counterpart.

As for why it isn't 100%, probably because they are really powerful items.

The Orb should drop 100% of the time when you complete the bonus objective of a map, according to the patch notes. Given that Oba's is bossless, it wouldn't surprise me if this were actually bugged and the chests can't give it.

I was under the exact opposite impression, as I have run quite a few of the maps and not gotten a single one yet. That and the quote from the interview. The only thing the patch notes say is that it can be earned, not you will (Given the proclivity of wording that GGG uses in mind)

It is a small sample size I know, but between myself and a friend we have gotten 6 Shaper's Orbs so far and every one has dropped the first time we do a map that says it contains one. Not 100% clear, but seems like reasonable evidence that they're guaranteed (and presumably also that you only get one per tier?).

Ok, so it does seem to be bugged. Just talked to Support, and it would appear that there are issues with the Shaper Orb drops. If I hear anything back, I'll drop an update.

Alright, thanks for your (and everyone else's) help/input. Shame about my map, but at least its just standard.

I have gotten orbs from the first map where it was stated that it drops, in the consecutive map runs I have done in the same map no orbs have dropped. So it is my impression that the orb only drops 1 time from a map marked with the violet circle in the Atlas. And here starts the confusion: Why does the map still say that orbs drop in it after the first drop, when it clearly doesn't. Why is there then still a violet circle around the map? Another thing is that it's unclear to me if the maps in my Atlas marked with a violet circle is static or if they will change, if they wont change I am stuck with having to run a T16 Vaal Temple to get T16 Shapers orb, and that really sucks because the map is so hard to get.
